Review of Murrieta, California

slower pace in So Cal
Star Rating - 10/26/2007
Murrieta, CA is a well planned and engineered city for families and singles alike. This bedroom community offers a slower pace of life here in Southern California, with plenty of activities for all, many retail stores, restaurants, movie theaters, and an excellent education system. We've got it all: mountains, desert, ocean, and beautiful clear blue skies!! It's a dream to live in this easy going, sunny, and friendly place!

Do not be seduced by the square footage of the homes here in Murriea. Head north and stay away from any city within the 951 area code for that matter. Where do I begin? Having come from Thousand Oaks, I can tell you that Murrieta is an extremely poorly planned community. I hesitate even using the term "planned". Let's start with architecture. Every building looks completely different from the next. Where's the consistency? If you visit places like Thousand Oaks, Newport Beach, Calabasas, you'll notice uniformity in each structure. In Murrieta, you'll see nothing but a hodge podge of strip malls that can range from Spanish, to deco, to God knows what. This is why Murrieta will never attract the truly affluent. Has anyone seen the train wreck of a structure known as "Furniture Row"? I shudder each time I pass by. The leadership is either corrupt, or completely lacks knowledge of how to run a solid city, or a combination of both. Must I remind you of the mayor recall? As far as culture goes, what theaters are you referring to? Where does one go to see performances such as symphony, opera, the newest Broadway production? Museums? Forget about. In Murrieta, the closest thing you'll get to culture is Harry's on a Friday night with a piece of hair baked into the bread (yes, this really happened to me). Culture in Murrieta from what I've observed revolves around dirt bikes, tattoos, and the numerous fast food havens that the brilliant city council keep approving to be built. Shopping? No. One must head south to find a Nordstrom, Crate & Barrel, Pottery Barn, etc... Schools? Negative. When you live in the Inland Empire, you don't send you child to public school. Most likely, your student will be amongst many to several "English learners" which as you all know is not a positive. Your only options for a good education are private, for the most part, and homeschooling. Let me just wrap this up by saying how saddened I am that Murrieta began with a clean slate but quickly became another common city filled with urban sprawl.

I can tell from the things you listed that you think this town is missing that you are a generic Paris Hilton wannabe who reads tabloid rags, and buys whatever Vogue and Cosmo tell you to buy this season. You speak of Pottery Barn, Crate and Barrel, and Nordstrom. All overpriced, superfluous, generic stores for the sheep that come from "affluent" areas. You also slam the schools because of "english-learners." A little bigoted are we Ms. Bunker? "Consistancy in architecture." It appears you want everything to look exactly the same, like the generic town you grew up in right? Bland, stale, boring to look at. Am I hitting the nail on the head? I think I am. And before you exalt private schools over public schools, re-read your post. NUMEROUS grammatical errors and proofreading errors abound in your writing. 1. The city is Murrieta not Murriea, 2. When you live in the Inland Empire, you don't send YOU child... 3. ...from Spanish to deco (deco should be capitalized.) Move back to Ventura County or over to Newport if you don't like it. I'm sure you'll be more comfortable among all the other plastic sheep that make up 99% of the population there. Maybe you can find a plastic surgeon there that can manage to fix you nose, because it's stuck way up in the air.
