Review of Port St. Lucie, Florida

The worst place I ever lived
Star Rating - 10/4/2013
I lived in PGA Village which is the nicest community in town. Once I got outside of the community, I was confronted by a sea of rednecks, tailgaters in jacked up pick-up trucks, trailer park trash people, low life toothless and tattoo'd losers, and a negative energy that I have never experienced anywhere before. It's incredible unfriendly and there is absolutely nothing to do for an adult here. Horrible restaurants selling junk food, no decent shopping, terrible traffic for such a small city, and an overall feeling of apathy in this place. There is zero work ethic and trying to hire competent contractors to work on your house is all but impossible. The worst part of all is the NUCLEAR REACTOR WHICH RELEASES RADIATION all over this city. It's closer to the population than any other reactor in the country, has had the most unplanned shutdown, releases trillium into the reactor pond which ends up in the ground water and is a know carcinogen. Lots of brain cancers and Leukemia here. Research this yourself by searching for "dangers of st lucie nuclear reactor" The radiation plume does not extend over Stuart or Vero which are both better places to live. PSL and Fort Pierce are two disgusting pits of hell which are suitable for low life drug addicts. The police love to write tickets but I never got one. Avoid this redneck hell unless you are one of them. If you decide to move here, be prepared to drive at least 45 miles each way for decent dining and shopping.

Well Allan, I see you're living in Tennessee now. No rednecks there I'm guessing. I understand there are a lot of banjo players though. There's nothing wrong with Port St Lucie and it gets better and better every time another pretentious jackass leaves the area.

I’m afraid Allan is wrong. He’s being WAY TOO NICE. He almost captured how relentlessly atrocious are the people who live in PSL. Just the worst, ignorant-and-proud-of-it, obnoxious, entitled, immature, Baby-Booming sacks of s—t you could possibly imagine. It’s not just the rednecks either. Sure, they’re here and they’re considerably worse than most of the people in Tennessee or anywhere else that actually has some culture. But let’s not forget the repugnant imports. “Are you a racist retired cop from New Jersey or Ohio? How ‘bout a human chihuahua in the form of a septuagenarian transplanted Long Islander who thinks he’s Carmine Persico wrapped in Bruce Lee??? Well come on down!” But if ya do come on down, you better have all the money with you already because the job market is abysmal. No more than maybe 10% of jobs will furnish you a living wage. Florida is absolute trash and the worst state in which to work by a lot. PSL is one of the absolute worst parts of it. Abandon Hope All Ye Who Enter Here.

Right about the white trash and crooked contractors, but the neighborhood nukes that dare to provide living wage jobs? Spreading radiation all over the city? Wow, need to educate yourself in this subject or move. By the way, PGA Village is home to some folks that work there. You might be living next door to a radioactive zombie!

Well, I have lived in Port Saint Lucie for two years now. I came here right after my retirement thinking it would be a nice place to relax. Two years later I can't wait to get out of this city. The most boring, non mentally-challenging place I've ever been! If you are a professional, this city could make you age really fast. For instance, there are no community educational schools to go and learn something new. It is a proven fact that older people need to learn new things in order to prevent memory problems, well this is certainly not the place to be exercising your brain. I much rather deal with traffic, crowds and all the different things in a big city than to live and die in boredom. If you have a decent IQ please do not move to PSL, and above all do not buy a home. Rent for a couple of years and decide if this is the place for you.

But we got your money. There’s always a dummy who moves here without doing their research. And along came Allen, the dummy who spent all his money. And he is single trying to live in pga which makes him a loner.

HMMMM, Allan are you sure you're not describing Tennessee? Everything you stated is word for word Tennessee, as a matter of fact I cannot wait to get the hell out of TN and go back to FL! Speaking of nuclear reactors what do you think the TVA is all about. I can tell that you most likely grew up in TN and all your clothes are orange with a big dumba$$ T on them! I'd be more than happy to sell you my house here so I can get out.

Thanks for leaving. PSL has always been a great town but it got even better when you left

I have lived in Port St. Lucie since the early 90's and it had changed a great deal over that time. I grew up in south Broward county and moved up her in my 20's. The population is diverse, but there is something for everyone. It's just far enough away from the hectic city life, but close enough to go into a big city when you want to. The people are very friendly and speaking as the wife of a very reliable, reputable electrical contractor, there are many contractors here in PSL that are honest hard-working people. I have enjoyed living here and I know many other people, from home-makers to educated professionals that love living in Port St. Lucie.

Let me respond to the morons here who don't know me and say you are glad I left. First, I lived in TN long before I lived in PSL, so you're absolutely wrong if you think I like that better or I moved there from Port St. Loser. There is NOTHING that is getting better in PSL. There is still no good jobs for most,no fortune 500 companies, no infrastructure in terms of good dining or shopping and you still have the nuke plant right on top of you. What you have in PSL are a bunch of low class hillbillies and no culture at all. I happen to live in Jupiter and the class of people I live around is much better. They are professionals, not blue collar laborers or pool cleaners like you find in PSL. PSL is a bedroom community for losers or a retirement destination which offers nothing but golf. Either way, it's terrible unless you are a redneck slob.
