Orlando is one of the worst cities - 6/29/2017

Orlando is a terrible place to live- the people are just trash and scum. I had the misfortune of moving to this craphole and have been here for a bit. In the 15 years ive been here- it has been like a joke or hell really. Making friends in orlando is next to impossible, so is dating. I'm a beautiful woman, i get harassed and abused daily here. If you are a pretty woman do NOT move to orlando. The people here are ugly scum and hate anyone with beauty, talent etc. the men are even worse. As a beautiful woman, i get harassed and abused daily here. I can't go to a store without jerks bothering me giving me a hard time or trying to put me down. I can't get any confidence b/c everywhere I go people are always putting me down.. Making friends is virtually impossible- you'd have more success trying to survive the dangerous alaskan wilderness, trek the sahara desert, or climb mount everest- at least in those places you'd have a chance. In orlando- meeting people is not possible. Everyone is mean, rude angry, trash scum. Dating here- impossible as well. Somehow there are "people" who meet others- don't ask me how. Ive been in orlando for 15 years and am a very pretty woman- not one man in orlando has ever shown interest in me, or asked me out, but they will harass you daily. I don't know if these are men or what they are, but something is really wrong in this place. You could be the hottest woman and only get harassed and mistreated by males, that's it. in orlando the men treat you so badly if you're pretty- they all hate pretty women and it is the entire city. You could want to get 'sexual' with these males, they still reject you or run away. Ive known others who can't meet anyone for dating in orlando. Its either a parallel universe or some kind of holograpic reality. No one in orlando is normal. The males are not normal at all- they are crazy, angry, misogynistic and full of hate...worse than other places. ive been to other cities and ONCE again- it is NOT this bad- trust me. In other places you'll find 'some'people like this, in orlando the entire city is this way. its full of ugly weird creepy low class gutter trash people? I try joining groups to meet people- and again get mistreated by those people- there's no winning in orlando if you're a winner. If you're an ugly loser, fat geeky, weird, strange, you'll do great in orlando-make plenty of weirdo friends like yourself and people will like you. If you have talent, charisma, beauty- orlando is not the place to be- lots of ugly weirdos low class trash here jealous nasty people. I am a positive person with a lot of charisma- rather than people wanting to 'befriend' me what they do is treat me lower than crap and literally try to take my energy and power- that's all you find in orlando- bottom feeding scum. It's shocking the kind of horrible people that exist here. You also have these really dumb ugly people who will act liek they can't hear or understand you when you speak- they do this just to put people down. Doesn't happen in other cities where people are more normal. I tried auditioning for bands, and one actually insulted my style of singing, though im an amazing singer- and they chose this guy who was horrible, and tried to put me down. Yes bullied just for auditioning b/c I have talent. It's full of these creepy inferior pathetic weirdos who put down anyone who really is talented. My experiences in orlando have been nothing but hate, people trying to put me down, use me, or just not good things. Rather than appreciate my talents I get insulted and abused by most people. Another male contacted me for music- he began manipulating me right away and messing with my head. Everything in orlando is some kind of a scam or meeting some kind of sociopath it seems. The people of the city are users, liars, losers, fakes, scam artists- but like 98% of the people there are this way. For me living in orlando is another day of getting harassed and mistreated by the ugly weird freaks of that city/..I went to another city and males were flirting with me in a store. Orlando is a city full of low class inferior scum- they hate people who have things going for them and collectively bully them. It's full of these ugly weirdo hispanic fat people or strange nasty people in general. Its a terrible place full of nasty bad people...

Orlando is a city full of jerks a**holes and loser - 4/26/2017

This is a terrible city- the good reviews are by losers themselves, the only idiots who will condone this awful place. The city of orlando is full of rude people, people who have NO sense of manners, personal space, and energy vampires. I recently went to jacksonville- just for a few hours- it was like a different planet. The chick fila I went to- everyone was so nice and kind- and i mean GENUINELY nice. In orlando- they're all passive aggressive and crazy rude usually. I didn't know how to react because living in the horrible city of orlando, these awful sick people will mess with you who are and not let you be happy or a real human being. I was in a bathroom somewhere and this girl sort of beat me to the paper towels but she made a funny comment about it- i just laughed because again im like..where the f*ck am I?? these people are not only NORMAL but they're actually like happy people and friendly. In orlando, all you find are passive aggressive angry psycho people- really rude weird nasty people... To have to be around these horrible orlando jerks is some kind of hell. These are some of the most soulless weirdest people you will find anywhere. I mean they have no souls- they are just freaks or something. I knew a girl that came down from GA. She joined some group. She thought she had a 'family', but they screwed her over badly. Because they were horrible cold soulless jerks. Any other city I go to- the people are so much different--they are much nicer, more normal in so many ways. If you want to interact with zombies and cold psycho people orlando is the place to do that. The people of orlando are WEIRD and terrible. The ONLY nice people ive met in orlando, are some people from new york- and it's usually been black women or black men from new york that's it, or maybe some italians. But I mean like genuinely nice people just don't exist in orlando- it's just weirdos or really rude crazy passive aggressive jerks. I recently went on a date with an 'orlando native'. I thought he was a nice person. The first hour he passive aggressively talked over me and interrupted me to a point where I asked him to stop four times. He never did. The rest of the experience was horrible but that's what you get for going anywhere with an 'orlando native'- they are the worst weirdest freaks you will ever meet in your life. Everytime I go to walmart in orlando- it's a terrible experience. The employees are crazy jerks, and the customers are the same. Both are equally jerks or rude in some way. Ive had employees do crazy things to me in orlando walmarts such as come and grab my item during self check out and scan it, or do some really messed up things to be jerks. It's always bad in an orlando walmart. Ive been to walmarts in atlanta, dc, jacksonville, tampa and many other cities- yet strangely no one is rude weird or bothers you there. Even if the stores are full of people- the employees don't harass you or do rude things to you, and the customers don't either. Yet in orlando- the idiots that work there and the customers are all rude jerks. Heck, in a tampa walmart the employees were flirting with me. In an orlando walmart, they will harass and treat you badly... To give an example of the idiots in orlando, I was recently at a walmart checking out. Once I was done the cashier gave me my receipt. The person behind me some white kid, had one item. The cashier scanned his item, and I wasn't even done loading my cart- I had like five bags. These jerks didn't even give me 5 seconds to load my cart- not even five freaking seconds. He rang the guy up, and the guy literally was sticking his credit card in the machine, reaching over, b/c my cart was still there. I mean talk about invading people's space, and basic manners. This stupid rude kid reached over my cart to stick his credit card in the machine rudely, not even giving me any time to leave my area, not even 5-10 seconds- literally rushing me to leave. I would never do that- if someone is loading their cart, you wait until they grab their bags and leave. But not in stupid crap orlando- esp the nasty rude ill mannered college kids. The jerks in orlando have NO manners nothing. They like to be rude, invade people's spaces, have no manners nothing, impatient jerks. They are some of the worst people ever. Though it's not a big deal it was still shocking that these rude male had the nerve to stick his CC in the machine while my cart was there not even seconds after the cashier handed me my receipt. I wanted to punch him out. But this is common in orlando. in the grocery stores, walmarts. The rude nasty orlando residents will purposely even try to push their cart really close to you, just to piss you off or be rude. If you say something to them they pretend you're not speaking english or they can't understand you, or theyre just glad they got a reaction out of you. That's the city of orlando- passive aggressive nasty horrible people. They are cold soulless jerks. If they are nice, it's the kind of fake nice where they want nothing to do with you except that one fake interaction. If you attempt to talk to them about anything they will treat you like crap. If you're friendly with the jerks in orlando, they will treat you like crap. Orlando is an unfriendly horrible city. It's so bad that when you go to places like jacksonville, it will feel like another world. If you go most places it'll feel that way because the people of orlando are just that bad. I recently went to two concerts- one in a florida city and one in orlando. In the other city- it was so different- just nicer people and people who sort of at least respect your space. My experience there was just fun. In orlando- it was some kind of nightmare. First, these two nasty rude females angrily told me I was in one of their seats- with so much hatred. Ive had people sit in my seat before, even recently- some I just let sit there and others I nicely tell them theyre in my seat. These females were so rude and crazy it was surprising. Then, I dealt with more crazy rude people. Two weird guys next to me one just stared at me intensely in the worst way- rudely. His friend kept standing right into me. Again idiots in orlando have NO concept of personal space and they're all energy vampire jerks. This happened to me at another show where I got into a fight with a guy who kept shoving himself into me. When you go to festivals in other cities the people are much nicer and have respect. Go to earthday birthday in orlando and it's hell- crazy rude stupid people. Everytime I go to an event in orlando it sucks and there are rude stupid people. The jerks of orlando are the worst. I once got attacked by a crazy female at the house of blues during a show b/c her crazy husband kept cornering me and I told him to get lost- this crazy white female lunged at me 3 times and two men had to hold her back. She was aggressive, violent and sick- the idiot managers at the house of blues then tried to kick me out after I almost got attacked by a vicious crazy white female. They were racist- im a minority and tried to kick me out for some crazy idiot attacking. i guess that's typical in stupid orlando- they try to punish a victim. Crazy people are here. Even justin bieber complained about how crazy the idiots in orlando are- when you have someone like that saying these people have no manners and are crazy- that says a lot. If you are a positive person with good energy- RUN don't walk from orlando. The entire city is full of energy vampires- these angry bitter low class weirdos who are miserable angry and they will do anything to take your energy. Orlando is a place full of really negative nasty messed up people. So when there is someone who is positive, they will just try to take their energy or bring them down. Ive never been to a city with bigger 'energy vampire' types than orlando. Everywhere you go in Orlando you will find these kind of freaks. That is a good description of the city- angry bitter weird losers, miserable nasty people, and energy vampires. It's just a weird messed up place, and the people are the rudest. The drivers are the worst- everyone that visits orlando complains of the terrible drivers there- stupid and idiotic people driving who don't know how to drive. All they do is cut people off, tailgate people in the right hand lane, and harass people.

Orlando is a bad place with bad people - 3/5/2017

First off, the only way to know what orlando is really like is to live there. If you visit it seems like a great place. Once you move there then the truth really gets you. The city itself is alright- it's the people and the culture and attitude of these idiots there that makes it such a crappy place. Unfriendly rude angry bitter jerks live there. it's full of mostly 'losers' or ghetto thug type angry males and people. People with ugly souls and no conscience losers rejects live in orlando. Inferior people live in orlando. These people have no talent ambition, they are average plain weird inferior and pathetic human beings but these weird average inferior idiots think they are better than everyone else and are so arrogant rude. It's worse than any kind of LA you can imagine- it is really the worst city out there. Imagine inferior lesser educated dumber, less competent, rude, arrogant, ugly untalented jerks thinking they are better than you- that sums up the scumbags of orlando. The people of orlando have no personality, and not much going for them as well. The people there are angry, bitter, rude etc. The families there are horrible as well. The neighborhood I lived in- had just awful people living there. Even one lady whose husband came to do 'handywork' or cut grass, wouldn't even say a word to me when I asked him a question, and his wife was nothing but evil nasty rude to me. Once she started to say something to me but quickly changed it to something really negative- why- because im positive and nice. These two ugly white trash losers have a daughter themselves but treat other people's daughters so badly? These are the kinds of scummy crap you find in orlando- these soccer moms but they're not your average soccer moms- they are mean rotten rude hideous people. The women there with their kids and husbands- just rude nasty arrogant people everywhere- these soulless white people too. There is also the low class ghetto angry mean puerto rican jerks. But they get along well with the fake weird soulless white trash people. If you're not like these hideous weird creepy people there- they will outcast or mistreat you--you have to be some inferior weird loser degenerate, or scum like them for them to treat you well. If the idiots of orlando are not treating you well it's a good thing- you're not like them. It's all about cliques in orlando too- these clickish closed minded dumb lesser educated weird people. It's almost a cult like city. It's kind of like stepford wives on crack- I can't describe how fake it is and the people- but they aren't the kind of people that are nice to you but talk behind your back- they're the kind of jungle creatures that just treat you like crap and act like crazy animals or jerks. The entire city is full of these bizarre kind of culture, people, lifestyle, attitude. It almost feels like a parallel universe or some other planet. It's not even fake, it's a faker version of fake and even worse. You have to dig deep to find the 'nice' normal people and even then- they don't really exist in orlando. I'm not sure if anything real exists in that city. It seems every church you go to or group seems to be some kind of cult in hiding or that mentality. Leaders of the groups are narcissists and jerks. There are no real role models or decent people in the city. The doctors- incompetent jerks and losers- the entire city is full of the worst doctors you can imagine. Ive been to 3 gynecologists who misdiagnosed me, were rude to me or not appropriate with me. The entire city is full of idiots and incompetent people, or sociopathic types and narcissists. The people who say it's so great, seem to be part of the fake robotic mentality there- and they probably aren't mistreated b/c if you have a soul a personality or something going for you, all the weird robotic idiots of orlando don't treat you well. The whole city is weird and crazy- kind of like stepford wives or the truman show or something strange. Every city has a 'breed' of people and that breed in orlando is a disgusting mess of the most average ugly fake white trash crap you can imagine with a lot of dysfunction inside. The breed in orlando is really awful- that's why so many people move to orlando and live there in surprise at what the fake rude people are like. Even if you go to jacksonville- HUGE difference- jacksonville has REAL people and nice people- personable friendly people. Orlando is just full of trash garbage and scum.

Orlando is the worst city on the planet - 3/3/2017

Its a horrible city and the reason why- most of the people of that city are just sociopaths. Angry bitter rude jerks and losers. If you're not a sociopath like them they will harass and abuse you- that's how it is in orlando. Ive been living in that hellhole for 15 years, and in 15 years you know what- I managed to make ONE friend. How crazy is that? I'm a likeable personable friendly person and attractive, but that's what the idiots of orlando hate- people with talent, beauty, intelligence. I made more friends in another city in ONE day than I did in orlando in 15 years. There are nice people in orlando but they'll never be your friend, and then you're left to deal with all the weirdos and psychos there. The people of Orlando are really robotic and soulless. I'm a female who lives on my own. Not a single of my neighbors have EVER tried to be friends or even say hi to you. Even if they like you- they'll never talk to you. One guy did talk to me ONCE lol many years ago. I tried callign him a few times he never answered. In 10 years he has NEVER said a word to me again. But when I got my car washed and it was brought back sparkling clean, this crazy creep stood behind my car as I was pulling out to freak me out- again not saying a word to me but just standing there to scare me- still hasn't talked to me. The people of orlando are crazy soulless freaks. They aren't even human i dont know what they are, and the entire damn city is full of them. Maybe they are fake humans or robots but they don't have souls it seems. Other neighbors of mine used to harass me years ago- oh yeah they'll never talk to you, but they will harass and abuse you. Every therapist I have been to has been a sociopath as well- crazy people are therapists there- again psychopaths with no souls. There are soulless jerks everywhere in the world but orlando is full of them everywhere. Two therapists I went to in fact became abusive and bullied me when I was in a situation and needed help. Another recently began getting into 'sexual things' with me and doesn't seem to want to help me now that I showed disinterest- he too is behaving like a sociopath. Oh yeah in orlando, it's cold sociopaths everywhere- that isn't going to change. Weird people live there- bizarre strange people. Again they 'seem' human but they're not- they're these weirdos I can't describe. If you do want to make friends I tell people you have to sell your soul to people to make friends there literally. You have to commit to people in the craziest ways or let them use you- that's the only way you can meet people there. You have to join some lame meetup group and commit to them and keep going for them to like you and even then who knows. My brother was friends with owners of a restaurant there- all sociopaths or jerks. Though they know my family, everytime I went in to get food, the father was so rude to me and even tried to overcharge me many times, and the mother was mean to me too. I mean what kind of sick people mistreat a young sweet female? I'm telling you only sociopaths with no souls live in that city and it's full of these psycho robotic weirdos and freaks. Ive talked to many people who had the same experience- moved to orlando and only met the lowest class trash possible and got used abused. only the most worthless trashiest people live there. It's just full of degenerate scum. Most move there and say "i dont know anyone here." I'm thinking, yep and that's how it's going to be in craplando. It's the worst city - the most worthless jerks live there... I went to get some MRI's done recently- every single tech abused me. The office staff was nice, but the first tech, she purposely dropped the ball on me, then she was yelling at me while I was changing and crazy. The other two techs were rude and abusive and crazy. There was an old lady who began crying cuz she couldn't do her MRI and I tried being nice to her and she didn't care or respond. The only place where you can find normal nice people at are the people that work at the shopping malls- everytime I go to the mall everyone there is really nice that's about it. Orlando is the kind of place where if you put a great person there- that person will be abused by all the degenerates there. that's what living there is like

Always something to do in Orlando - 1/27/2017

I grew up in Orlando, relocated for school at The University of Florida, and have since returned and I am currently working on buying a house in the Orlando area. I love Orlando because there is always something to do. The area has tons of cool town centers to explore like Winter Park, Winter Garden, and Downtown Orlando. There is always an event or festival going on during the weekends, and I love visiting my local farmer's market on Saturday mornings. The area is also a popular stop on show tours including music, broadway, the circus and more, so it is easy to find entertaining events to attend on the weekends. I highly recommend Orlando for any young professionals looking to get plugged-in to local culture.

I would not recommend Orlando to most. - 1/6/2017

Unless your a tourist Orlando, Florida is one of the worst cities you could possibly live in especially if you are a young adult trying to establish yourself. Florida in general can be a hard place to thrive outside of retirement or vacation but Orlando in particular is just not a great set up. The biggest problem here is the locals, you will not meet angrier people anywhere else...well maybe Miami. Due to high stress levels from the traffic, lack of paying jobs etc. and not to mention the high volume of felons and rejects from other states, locals seem to be in survival mode and ready for any confrontation. The education system here is a joke and I believe ranked one of the worst in the state. Traffic is always pretty heavy especially downtown and toward the theme parks but there are worse places for traffic. Because the city grew so quickly especially after 2000 the road layouts are poorly designed causing gridlock just about everywhere you go. If you have aspirations of making money and a home for yourself this is not your city. Orlando has gone from being mostly Republican to Democratic due to the fact that there is not a middle anymore. There are extremely rich people here most being from Northern states originally and the rest typically being service leveled poorer people. If you want to work as a cashier for a rich New Yorker and make 9.00 an hour or be a server at a restaurant this may be a great fit. If you are in construction Orlando may not be the worst fit either. There are jobs they just aren't jobs that will get you ahead financially. Personally I have noticed my overall attitude has become very negative since moving here luckily I am not having to stay much longer. All in all Orlando just isn't very safe, the people are confrontational, traffic is harsh and there is not much money to be made. If you want an awesome vacation come here, if you want somewhere to live and grow look elsewhere.

The good, the Bad and the Ugly of Orlando - 12/14/2016

Like any place, Orlando has pros and cons. As someone who grew up in Brevard County (just outside of Orlando) and lived in O-Town for 4 years, I humbly believe I can adequately break down Orlando's great and not-so-great aspects: Pros: In recent time, the job sector has grown in many areas. Orlando is a true melting pot, which means a diverse level of culture..and restaurants! This is particularly so with Asian and Latin American (excluding Mexican). Areas like Mills 50 have some of the best Vietnamese and Thai restaurants you will find anywhere. Recreation is abundant in Orlando. Though the fun areas are spread out, there are many bars, restaurants, fun activities for kids and families, adults, etc....whatever your group consists of. There's of course Disney, Downtown has a nice concentrated night-life, and Winter Park is a great place for the fancier types. Each neighborhood has distinct characteristics and are unique from eachother. In the same boat, Orlando is an especially tolerant and embracing city (in terms of racial, religious, and LGBT acceptance). Keeping with the theme, there is truly something for everybody in this city. Housing is affordable in many places around the city but... Cons: ...keeping with the Housing topic...the nicer areas will cost you a premium. This is a more recent development, which goes hand in hand with the job growth. Property taxes and home insurance are very high here because of crime and suseptibility to weather. Though there are plenty of jobs coming in, many of them don't pay so well. Crime in areas like Paramore and "the other side of i4" in Downtown is horrible. Some of these areas are right up there with the reputation St. Louis and Detroit have developed. And sadly, this pertains to violent crimes. Sometimes, this violence can happen anywhere. For example, I know someone who randomly got shot simply for driving down the wrong street at the wrong time. Thankfully, he was not killed. Though the risk of becoming a victim of random violence is still very low overall, it is much higher in Orlando than many other places. Mosquitos and the heat are borderline unbearable...unless you like 93 degrees with a feel of 105 on most given summer days and spending Winter Holidays with the AC blasting. If you end up living here, make sure you keep any pools or bodies of fresh water low because you will be a mosquito buffet before you know it. Orlando's traffic is a special brand of dread. You have tourists from all over the world with different driving styles trying to get to destinations they unsure of how to get to. On top of that, you have urban sprawl, and it can take what seems like forever to get just a few miles. We lived across the street from a shopping plaza. When I needed the car to haul merchandise or run additional errands, it would sometimes take 5 minutes just to get on the other side of Colonial Dr. Overall, if you are looking for a diverse city with much to offer in terms of fun for all walks of life, but can still afford a $250K+ house, don't mind traffic, and can tolerate humd heat and mosquitos, then Orlando can be a great place for you.

Ibn Seena Academy - 11/3/2016

Ibn Seena Academy is great school in Orlando. Teachers and staff members are so caring and willing to help with anything they can. Very friendly environment. My children love this school and this is the prove how well Ibn Seena Academy is working with our children. Tuition and other fees are very low and affordable comparing other Islamic schools in Orlando. Overall awesome school, if you have a child choose Ibn Seena Academy and you will not regret it! Thank you for opening and running such a amazing school.

Yeah, it's real, real, bad. - 10/26/2016

First off, native Floridians are for the most part wonderful people. Central Florida however is full of people from the North East corridor, and the slums of Americas mid west. I used to think that Central Florida was some giant fenceless prison somehow created by the shadow government where the countries nastiest, least sophisticated sociopaths were somehow secretly herded for eventual purging but then how did I become one of them? The truth is far less sinister but still the truth. It is a melting pot and cultural differences lead to conflict and stress. Central Florida is also a very poor place, and poverty, scarcity can and does bring out the worst in people. Why so poor here? Wages are low. Because Disney sets the bar everyone has to "Limbo". The vast majority of people here make 10 or less an hour. Cost of living is comparable to the rest of the country. Houses are still "cheap" but rents are very, very, high unless you want to live someplace where you are afraid to sleep at night or leave anything of value at home when you go to work. Assuming you can find a job. Let me mention while I'm thinking about it, the professional class down here. Everywhere around the country there are bad lawyers, doctors etc. but after some selection you can usually find the excellent ones. Here in Central Florida that process of finding "excellence", is potentially devastating. Just saying, it's tricky wherever you are, but here it's depressingly desperate. Now what makes all this most baffling is the potential this place seeminly offers. The sunshine, the blue skies, the lush tropical green, the temperatures, all the great outdoors, and yet this state has yet to really capitalize on it's natural beauty except to offer it up as a place to come to while you wait to die. Back to the people. Again, "natives" excepted, the people that come here are for the most part the refuse of everywhere else. White, black, hispanic, asian, purple, does not matter, and of course this is a generalisation, and a curious phenomena, but no less true. People are rude. PERIOD. It is unrelenting too. It's exponentially multiplied and exasperated by the volume and constant influx of more. Rude begets rude. Try to turn it around yourself, be a one person army afainst it all and you will go insane. A brick wall, is still a brick wall no matter how many times you beat your fist against it. I use what I call the shopping cart test to explain to people what I mean about a culture of rude. Think about where you live when you go to the grocery store. Look around the parking lot. How many people return their carts to the store when they are done unloading, or to the "corral"? If you are one of those people who don't bother yourself then the question is lost on you so don't bother to read on. If you see carts all over and no-one returns the carts and it doesn't bother you in the least, then come on down you might like it here. Here, NO ONE returns the carts when done. Instead the give it a good kick and send it careening off of as many cars as possible. This may seem a silly example to some people but I use it to ilustrate what I see as the endemic, systematic? all pervasive, underlying indicator of some fundamental deficiency in the socio-economic fabric of Central Florida society. SAD. Anyway, this has been therapeutic for me. In closing if you have read this far let me qualify myself. I'm 50. I have lived in Ct., N.Y.(City), S.C., Oh.,Mass., and D.C./Md. Not one of those places did I want to leave, but work or family prompted relocation. I found wonderful reasons to love all those places and miss them all. I am not angry with Central Florida but I do wish to warn others about the truth of this place. It is not nice. Opportunity is not here.

Orlando: a melting pot of jerks - 11/8/2015

Orlando, Florida is a place where people move to because they hate snow. As a result, you're seeing the worst of humanity from places like Pennsylvania, Ohio, New York, New Jersey, and the beacon of bright light known as the Northeast. People in Orlando are rude. Very rude. I have lived in many major cities and towns all over the U.S., and this town has issues. It's not unusual to drive down I-4 (the only major highway servicing this town) and have somebody cut you off without a turn signal or refuse to let you over after you've utilized yours. It's normal to make a transaction with a cashier without her even making eye contact with you. In fact, you could probably get through an entire day without a smile here. Southern hospitality? Ha! The population here is low-brow due to low pay and terrible schooling. After a while of living here, you will no longer be shocked to see a Confederate flag being waved on a huge truck with a gun rack on the back. The KKK is alive and well in St. Cloud, just south of here, and in Putnam and Lake counties to the west. Speaking of low paying jobs, thank The Mouse for that. While it's true that there's no state income tax, it's also true that wages are low. I transferred into a company because there was nobody educated in the area who could fulfill the position, but I see many college (UCF) graduates who top out around $16 or $17 an hour. Most people in the area are topping out around $9 or $10 an hour. Considering that rent is extremely high, I don't know how most people live. There is a large homeless population in Orlando due to the weather. There's also a big drug problem here, so often when you are just trying to pump gas, a tweaker will approach you and ask for a dollar for "gas." It's frustrating. Public transportation? Non-existant. Taking a Lynx bus is the biggest step to admitting that you're a loser with nothing better to do than sit on an un-shaded bench on the side of the road for hours at a time, praying that a bus will accidentally pass by your area. There is a train, Sunrail, that was designed to be a failure by only running on weekdays during work hours, but failing to unload people near the major office complexes that run down the I-4 corridor. Speaking of I-4, it is the only major highway that runs through here. It is extremely torn up due to a misguided renovation project, and it's causing mayhem throughout the city because nobody has time for this. Ten years of backroads (also under construction!) that are clogged and a commute time that has doubled in the last six months. Is it no wonder everybody here hates each other? We spend too much time together in traffic. I have lived in Texas, Colorado, California and Washington, and even I have never seen anything this chaotic. In terms of beauty, the city is dotted with bland ugly architecture and shopping malls. Anything older than 30 years is ripped down so another condo can be built on top of it. There are a few good mom and pop restaurants around town, but Orlando is Chain Central. Have a picky family member that won't eat anything but chicken fingers? We seriously have a chain restaurant devoted to chicken fingers. Yes, there are beaches, but they are a good 45 minute to an hour drive away. The city is landlocked, and in the summer (which runs from April-November) it is stifling hot. No problem, you think, I'll get a pool. 1/3 of my friends have pools that are broken and they haven't bothered to fix, so now they have a mosquito infested swamp just steps from their back door. The only positive thing about Orlando is the winter, when it doesn't snow. After all, that's why people move here, right? It's certainly not for natural beauty, Southern charm, friendly faces, great infrastructure, quality schools, or great wages. It's simply the lack of snow.

Gainesville FL - 8/19/2015

g or biking Move downtown. I lived there and loved it. You can walk or bike anywhere you need to go. The bus system has more routes down there as well. There are lots of great restaurants and bars in this area. The brewery, First Magnitude has free yoga on Sundays. The rent downtown is very reasonable as well, especially the historic buildings. Duckpond is a good area to look also, and still in walking, biking distance of everything. Gainesville has so may unique places: the Top, Boca Fiesta, Satchels, Flacos, Curia (a new coffee shop), Wolfgang, and Urban Thread (for shopping), and Lucky's, where you can drink beer while you grocery shop. And dont forget to visit the two awesome local breweries: Swamphead, and First Magnitude. Another great thing about Gainesville is that it's not too far from St Augustine. Ginnie Springs is great as well... Also, downtown there is a farmers market every Wednesday, and dont forget about the bike trails! I've been gone a month, and miss it so much. Hope this helps :) Also, look at Trip Advisor for more ideas. If you don't have a car, you should live downtown. Grocery stores, post office, bank, all in walking distance.

Zip Codes Please - 6/24/2015

Please post your zip code with a review. Orlando is very spread out and letting readers know what part you lived in will help tremendously. I have been to visit Orlando number of times and loved the downtown and Winter Park areas. Reviewers please make your reviews objective as possible. I put zero credibility for any review of any city that can't find one positive thing to say. I've traveled extensively in this country and can always find something good even in the worst places.

Gave it 3 years. Adios, Orlando - 12/12/2014

In a nutshell, orlando is... poor minorities and nouveau riche, sprawl, poor infrastructure, sleaze and scam artists, slow, boring, expensive, crime ridden, very low wages, humid, and void of culture. It's pretty much an incredibly poorly done poor mans imitation of LA. You've been forewarned. You're welcome.

orlando economy - 11/11/2014

do not come here unless you want to work selling timeshares or at Disney. It seems that there are only two major economies in the Orlando area. The tourism and elderly care industries. If selling timeshares wasn't hard enough or shady enough, most of these companies pay their employees $ 9.00/hr plus commission and the fact that they are always advertising job openings leads one to believe that obviously, there is incredible turn around at these companies. There is much more opportunity down south in the Miami/Ft Lauderdale area. The problem is that rent and housing costs are through the roof. Aside from all this, the weather is unbearable due to the humidity for at least 6 months of the year. There are native Floridians who still are not accustomed to the heat. In all fairness to Orlando, from the months of November to April the humidity dies down and it could be pleasant on most days.

It's not all Disney - 7/31/2014

I lived in Orlando for 10 years and was pretty happy for most of that time. The heat, especially in summer, is oppressive but, being single, I would just head to the beach or stay indoors. Once I had my daughter, I began to see things differently. Crime is horrific. We lived in a nice middle-upper middle class, gated neighborhood. One night a man who had stolen a vehicle and was evading police was shot and killed on our front lawn. Every night I could hear drag racing and what I believe were gun shots in the distance. A family owned convenience store around the corner from our neighborhood was robbed in the middle of the day by 4 men wielding sawed off shotguns...saw them speeding away shooting into the air. I was a high school teacher at one of the 'better' high schools in Orlando....it was a nightmare. The students were thugs - they wore ankle monitors to school, PO's visited them, they conducted business in class, more than one male student flashed the other students, one even assaulted another student with his penis. Downtown was overrun with homeless people. The downtown bars were awesome when I first lived there - they had some pretty cool, unique places to hang out (Go Lounge, Kit Kat Club, I Bar, Sapphire Supper Club) but all those unique spots were replaced by boring polished corporate-owned establishments. Boring. Aside from all this, there is no culture or entertainment to speak of. (Disney and the I drive area do not constitute entertainment imo). It's pretty much a cesspool. I knew as soon as our daughter was born that we would leave and we did when she was 16 months old. Best decision we ever made.

Professional Health Care : No Fear of Regulation - 10/12/2013

As far as Orlando / Orange County Fl goes, you can find some great professionals here. Google search (Tosh Florida Flat Hot Dumb) Many professionals care less about professionalism, courtesy, the law etc.. I think, they believe we are "dumb" and unsophisticated. Food service - health department, no enforce, refusing to recycling business! Orange County - no money to enforce. There is an underlining provincial, intellectual (if you call it that) isolationist. They have no clue about the world here and eating healthy is hard w limited access to fish.
