Jim Crow 2.0 - 11/4/2021
First I want to begin this review by saying I am a young black woman who stopped here for 1 day on her way to California with my husband, who is white. Every establishment I went to I felt judged, I got nasty looks from every person of every age, constantly stared at, I got harassed in the Walmart parking lot, got nasty looks for wearing a mask and the list goes on. While being one of the most beautiful quaint places I’ve ever been, this is not a town full of kindness, and it’s sad that only one demographic seems to be able to openly enjoy its beauty. I understand this is a retirement town so most of the people living here are holding on to that time period for dear life but it’s 2021 for gods sake, not 1950. Don’t visit here if you aren’t white Read More

Change is coming - 6/17/2021
Unfortunately, many on the far-right like to “claim” Lake Havasu City, but that’s going to change very soon as more Dems move in and help to build the economy and add more diversity. And, guess what… Democrats have guns too! Democrats like the dirt and the water too! No place in this country should be “claimed” by one party or another. Trump flags are coming down one by one and the remaining few have owners that wear tin hats. Lol

You won’t see any Dems flying autocrat flags… because well… they’re not bat sh*t crazy. But Dems ARE HERE!! They’re just not as obnoxious and don’t observe a flag of an autocrat over the American Flag.

Turn your head away, hold your head up high and head out to the lake, enjoy the beautiful sunsets, take a ride out to the wash in a Rzr or do some target shooting. It’s an awesome place if you’re not looking for a career or you work remote.

Been coming here several times a year to our house out here for years and Read More

Great Place to live! But maybe not for everyone! - 3/6/2021
My wife and I purchased last year for a few reasons: we got tired of the people in California; city living and crime. Not trying to insult anyone just true.

As we started to spend time here we noticed how everyone was friendly and courteous! What a concept! And when you drive, no one is flipping you off, trying to start a fight, or spitting on your car! People actually wave you on so you can go through an intersection before they do. And people actual talk to one another and people actually hold the door open for you even it you are 20+ feet from the door when they see you coming! And there is no crime! Wow, why would you want to live here?

Is it hot, yes starting in April it starts getting up in the 80's. Then in the summer it's very hot, 100-110 is pretty common, but its so dry you aren't effected like you would be in other places. Winter is gorgeous! Not freezing and that's why snowbirds come here! They know what cold is all about. It also gets windy Read More

Avoid this city if you’re a person of color - 10/12/2020
Have to travel for my job and lake havasu is one of the cities I absolutely hate going. I am from Mexican descent and I’ve been denied services here at least 2 times. I’ve been denied getting gas for my work truck saying they ran out of gas when it was clearly not the case. During this incident I was traveling with a coworker and he went in and was able to receive gas. Another time I had to stay in Havasu for about a week and after my job was done for the day I decided to head out to the London bridge and see what it was about. Never felt so judged in my life wanted to get ice cream nearby was denied entry stating they were closed but I guess that was not the case for the people behind me in line. I don’t usually let these things get to me however when I was heading back to my truck i had an older white man call me a stupid spic. My job knows that this happened and luckily don’t make me travel to the horrendous vile city of lake havasu anymore but beware those whose skin is darker Read More

Lake Havasu City for retirement - 2/10/2020
My wife and I visited here about 15 years ago and fell in love with the town. We retired ten years ago and bought a place to spend our winters here. We love the ease to live here. Everything is convenient for daily life. The restaurants are many and some great places to dine. The lake is beautiful and we love renting a pontoon and just cruising the lake. The hiking is wonderful, the parks are fantastic. It’s definitely a place to relax and enjoy retirement. It’s not for everyone. I am not sure it would be a place for a young couple trying to make a living but a good place for small businesses that serve the retirement community. We are snowbirds and enjoy this town very much. Recommend for retirees. Read More

Don't come here thinking it's New York City or L.A - 11/9/2019
My wife and I lived here from 1991 to 1997, when we moved for employment reasons to Phoenix. I have since retired, and we moved back this past July. We love it here!

Here are the facts about Lake Havasu. It is a small, (53,000 pop.) desert town. It is conservative and Republican. Yeah, we're those people who cling to our religion and our guns. If you don't like that, too bad. Go elsewhere.

It is very HOT here in the Summer. If you don't like hot weather, don't come here. If you're a flaming liberal Democrat, don't come here. If you don't like the desert, or the barren landscape it provides, don't come here. We're not built around the entertainment industry. So if you want "worldly culture", and to be entertained every 15 minutes, don't come here.

If you want a nice peaceful place, that has one of the best lakes in the country, good fishing, along with a relaxed lifestyle to go along with it, then come here and you will be happy. (We also have a Read More

Blistering hot 9 months out the year - 4/8/2019
I have lived here for 22 years. I hated as a kid, and now as an adult with children I have mixed emotions about here. The heat is awful, do not believe the weather averages you see online. I was here when we hit 132 degrees. June-Aug is 105-120 degrees, and it does not cool down at night, it could be 100 degrees at midnight. It is hot most the year, we get two months of cool weather sometimes 3. Monsoon seasons are pretty cool, we get very intense ones, alot of flying trampolines, roofs falling apart, we have even seen a motorcycle go flowing down the street. But it also brings bad humidity with over 100 degree weather.

This is a tourist destination, we get the snowbirds 4-6 months out of the year. In our area we get 2 million. snowbirds in the winter they camp out in the empty deserts around here. Impossible to go out to eat or get a doctor's appointment. I do have to say they bring me business in my shop so I am happy about that.

DONT MAKE THE MISTAKE OF LIVING HERE!!! - 10/24/2018
I’ve lived in Havasu for 3 years now and all I can say is STAY AWAY unless you’re white, older than 60,and don’t want to do anything with your life.
This is a highly racist town (white republicans will openly talk down on brown skinned people. You’re treated differently but this is Trumps America. They fly his flag, sell his hats, and even have cardboard cutouts everywhere.
The public education is ABSOLUTLY HORRIBLE. As everyone knows, Red for Ed was a big deal in Arizona. Havasu has large class sizes with less than quality teachers. There is also only ONE charter school (Rates terribly overall) and essentially no real Private schools.
When it comes to activities, unless you have a boat or a fishing license, there isn’t much. That could explain the high teen pregnancy rate here (if you have teens, beware). You see A LOT of single moms coming out of the high school and shopping with their kids.
When it comes to colleges, you have one option. A small Read More

Move here ONLY if your retired! - 1/3/2016
I have been here for almost 9 years, and I don't think I have ever had to work harder in my life. I'm a contractor, and the work goes up and down like a roller coster. The summers are blistering hot, the place is invaded with snowbirds in the winter. The fuel is just about .40/gallon higher then anywhere else. The jobs are taken by retired snowbirds, who don't need to work, this in turn takes jobs away from people ( young families ) who really need the work to exist here. The school system is poor, the student to teacher ratio is high. ( my son went through middle school and high school, and could wait to leave! ) I can't retire yet, but when I do, it won't be here. I can't wait to Read More

Water in the desert - 12/24/2015
Famous international televised boat races, and desert off road vehicle races. Oval race track. Two multi-screen movie theaters. Beautiful free shady park with sand beaches on the lake, and frequent concerts, and activities. January international hot air balloon lift-off. Fly-in's, even sea planes. Famous for spring breaks, and night clubs. The best weather ever. International fishing tournaments. Probably a lot more I haven't mentioned.  Read More
