2. "I moved to Denver from the East Coast and couldn't be happier. The people here are friendly and welcoming, and the weather is great. Plus, there are so many outdoor activities to enjoy, from skiing to hiking. It's definitely worth the move." - Emily T.

relocating - 4/22/2006
My husband just accepted a job in Denver and we plan to move in the next few months. What I really want to know is whether this is a good place to live. What makes Denver special and what suburbs should a family be looking to put down roots? I want a "feel" for the place, numbers and ratios only cover the tops of the trees. Read More

Denver is an overrated, snobby, crime ridden cowto - 4/18/2006
This city is so overrated! It has changed a lot over the last ten years. Whites are now the minority in Denver, so brush up on your Spanish. Its very racist here. Whites with whites, brown with browns, and blacks with blacks. Each to his own. Crime has escalated over the last several years. The roads are subpar, except for the T-Rex corrider. The city has a bypass that charges 1.50 for every three miles, and its a two lane road. People drive under the speed limit, and don't use turn signals. Most of them drive as if they are star gazing. Don't even think they will move over if you need to merge or pass. This city is in hail alley. More hail storms than anywhere else in the USA. You'll see when you pay insurance. Enjoy cracked windshields from the dust storms and trucks? you've found your place! Club's and bars close at 1:30, its the law. People really think this dust bowl is god's gift on earth. People are so snobby, they won't say excuse me or thank you. Talk about a fashion tip. Read More

relocating to Denver - 4/15/2006
I would also like to relocate and one of the options I have is Denver. However I have never been to Denver.

What is the best area to live (including suburbs)? Is public transportation reliable? Is it hard to find a job in the insurance industry?

Please advise.

Great Place to Live - 4/13/2006
I was born and raised in Denver; lived there 25 years, up until 10 months ago. The city has it's nice neighborhoods and it's bad ones. For the most part, the south part of the city in the nicest, such as Washington Park area and around DU. There are a lot of nice resturants in Downtown, some are pretty pricey though. The best thing about the food in Denver (IMHO) is the Mexican Food. (I recently moved to the south and they have never heard of green chili!!!) There are a lot of museums and art galleries in Denver, as well as a great symphony, opera, ballet and several theatres. Also, there are more parks within the city of Denver than any other city in the country, which is great even if you're not an outdoors-type person, as it adds to the beauty of the city. The mountains are not far away and the traffic is not bad coming back into the city. The previous post about horrible traffic coming back into the city on Sundays is bogus. There are several highways and roads that come down out Read More

Plain Vanilla trying to be Sundae and Sprinkles, u - 4/10/2006
Not much cultural diversity (I came here from Los Angeles 10 years ago) and can't stand it. I am actively seeking to move out of Denver, as soon as possible. My neighbors are really uptight, no one talks to one another much unless it's really gossipy and it's a bit snobby for my tastes. I am not a person of color, however if I were, this is the last place on earth I'd want to live in as I find there is not much tolerance. I hear people talking about minorities as if it were the 60's - using terms like 'oriental' and 'colored'. Wow. My neighbors are terrified of the Hispanics in the area and treat them like second class. Enough is enough, LA - I am coming home!! Give me the cultural melting pot anyday. Oh- and ladies? Unless you look like Barbie on a mountain bike, don't expect to meet many single guys. Or if you live in Boulder and are vegan, you might find someone interesting to hike with. Or, if you are up for painting your home blue and orange, you could find a Bronco fan Read More
