This place has the best customer service and "Howdy neighbor" was invented here. Cost of living is better than Indiana and Oregon. Quiet town, so you'll need to create your own fun. Sterling is a completely corrupt town where anyone in the"good-old-boys" network came cause untold misery for anyone they choose. The police, the courts, child protective services and the city commissioners are all corrupt and cover for each other. I am a very well educated, professional who has lived all over the country, in big towns and small. I have never lived anywhere that exhibits the unabashed deceit and corruption of this community. If you move there, be warned. The only good part of the town is it is dying because it will not allow new business in. Your choices for employment are the prison, or NJC. Nice small town - 11/12/2009
I have lived in Sterling for 9 years. It is a nice place to live, but very isolated. The nearest mall is almost two hours away. We do have a Home Depot and Walmart, but not much more than that. Cost of living is high here due to lack of competition.

The air is clear, but can have an agricultural smell due to feedlots or a beer-like smell due to the ethanol plant. The water is bordering on undrinkable, it is very hard and the flavor is terrible, most people use RO systems or use bottled water.
