Orlando, Florida: The harsh reality (Warning the t - 10/22/2007
I totally agree with Banicio, There is a very large extreme between the rich and the poor. Go Downtown Church street and watch your pocket book! All the services are underpaid, over worked lower class people who do not care at all about your $25 hamburger with no mayonnaise when asked for three times. Floridians are rude and uncivilized, I just came from the AST Dew Tour and people were already fist fighting over swag. Publix is the food dealer crooks of the south. The same low class people are the same people working the city jobs, so nobody to complain to because they don't care or have any drive to make anything better working at $8 and hour. Racism is alive and well here in Orlando, Take West of downtown.. Parramore, Division Ave, Texas and Holden (Blacks) and Azalea Park for example what I like to call, "Little Puerto Rico." Don't blame me people want to fight for desegregation in the 40's just to go segregate themselves and still never arise to better and complain about the

East Orlando - 10/20/2007
I live just about as far away from Disney as you can get in Orlando. East Orlando is a very nice area with a low crime rate and reasonable cost of living (although, cost of living has risen considerably in the past 5 or 6 years). There are many nice golf courses in the area, but few public parks. The existing public parks are usually full all day Saturday with local children and adult sports, family and organization picnics, and other

Florida is a very expensive state. Politician and rich people take full control of the middle class. There is no job security. There is no good services. It is made attractive to the tourists the sole resources maintained. Floridians are rude and uncivilized. Food market is expensive, utilities is a wripe off, Noone to complaint to, there are all the same.(The status quo). And of course racism is vivide, you can't miss it. discrimination is without mercy. Worst health care system. It's a night mare to live anywhere in florida, except if you are rich or hispanic. They take over the south part of the state, anyone who chooses to habit that side is out of place without the spanish language. Oh lala! what a great America. Orlando is just part of

The Sunshine State - 7/16/2007
I have been reading all of the negative comments about Orlando. I do understand the point regarding the lack of culture in comparison to the North but I feel safe here and I don't believe that Floridians are idiots. My husband and I have graduate degrees and our many friends and neighbors are also college educated with professional careers. Incidentally, it is rare to meet someone who was actually born in Florida. We have lived here for over 10 years and are very happy in Orlando. There is a large triathlete community here and plenty of opportunity to enjoy outdoor sports. Issues exist but you need to take a walk along the old brick tree lined streets, take a bike ride, kayak, go diving or spend a day at the beach if you need to be reminded how pretty our state can

We want to move - 7/4/2007
Hello...crime in Orlando has increased so much here that the police even admit that there are not enough officers to properly police the city. We're looking to move to the Carolinas in the near future. We do hope that Orlando can maybe pass some laws to slow down the influx of people moving here; if that is even possible. We've just had it with the weather and cost of living as well. Some people may enjoy the rushed pace as well as the superficiality of this city and so more power to them. Good luck in finding your own
