Orlando, Florida is a popular tourist destination known for its theme parks and warm climate. However, many people also call this city their home. However, like any city, it also has its own set of drawbacks such as high humidity and traffic congestion.

He also mentions how the city has a "vibrant and diverse culture" and is "very welcoming to newcomers." Similarly, Sarah Rodriguez notes in her review that "the people in Orlando are friendly and welcoming, making it easy to make new friends." She also praises the city's "booming economy and job market." On the other hand, Michael Johnson shares his experience of living in Orlando and states, "The cost of living here is high, especially housing and insurance." He also mentions the "long commutes and traffic congestion" as major downsides of living in the city. Lastly, in a review by Emily Jones, she mentions how "the food scene in Orlando is amazing, with a variety of cuisines to choose from." She also appreciates the "family-friendly atmosphere" and the "constant events and festivals happening in the city." Overall, these user reviews highlight the positive aspects of living in Orlando such as the weather, economy, and culture, while also acknowledging the challenges of high living costs and traffic.

Question for Jared... - 6/15/2006
If New York, Boston, Washington and Chicago are such great places to live, Jared, why are masses of people from those cities moving to cities like Orlando, Phoenix and Las Vegas every day? You sound like an idiot. Don't you understand that we are not trying to be like a New York or Boston here. Do us all a favor Jared and move to New York or San Fransisco. (The food there is great). Leave Orlando to those of us who actually love it Read More

Response to Allen - 6/10/2006
After reading the comments posted by Allen, the elitist who misspells simple, basic words, I feel a need to respond. Orlando is a cultureless backwater, plain and simple, so set aside your sneering arrogance. Orlando has the best restaurants in the world? Uh-huh. New York, San Francisco, Paris...what do these cities have that could possibly compare to the epicurean delights to be found in Orlando, Florida?
Your mention of "good" schools is puzzling; I find it hard to believe that you attended such schools yourself, considering your inability to discern the differences between "then" and "than" and "your" and "you're."
Not all of the negative comments about Orlando solely regarded the cost of living. Many complained of the bland, characterless collection of highways, strip malls, parking lots, and mass-produced "McHouses" that this "city" consists of. This setup results in nightmare traffic, and ridiculously long drives to get anywhere. It will also prove to be Read More

Low Income Whiners??? - 6/10/2006
Ah yes, another example of the haves vs the have nots! Not really, the issues here are not just economic. If you want to claim there are A schools, at least tell how many are D and F schools. Also compare how much is spent on Non-English speaking students (and not to teach them English but to give them classes in Spanish, teachers in Spanish, counselors in Spanish, etc, etc, etc) versus those designated as Gifted or Special Needs. Then take a ride around the whole of Orlando. If you are south of route 50, you will find a culture that is non-English. And don't think for one minute it will remain south of route 50. It's moving north and will bring all the problems that exist south of highway 50. Talk to the police, talk to educators, anyone willing to speak the truth. This is a place going downhill fast and isn't worth the Read More

Low income "complainers" need not apply. - 6/9/2006
I'm reading some of the negative and untrue comments on this blog site about Orlando and wanted to clarify some of them for the sake of reality... As far as not being able to get a good meal at a restaurant here because there are no good restaurants in town; Orlando has more trendy restaurants then any city I have ever been in. If you can only afford to eat at Denny's, your going to get a Denny's meal, ..ya know what I mean! Everyone I have spoken to here all agree that Orlando has the best restaurants compared to anywhere else they have been. And about Orlando having no "good" public schools here for your children; humm, lets see; Lake Mary, Oviedo, Bear Lake, Maitland, Clermont, Windermere, Winter Park, Edgewater... and the list goes on and on. The truth is, most areas in and around Orlando have "A rated" public schools. However, if you move to a "low income" area, (of which there are fewer and fewer due to the new development and re-development boom here), then most likely, Read More

I regret the day I moved this hell city orlando - 6/1/2006
My family and I, like everyone else looking for sun and palm trees moved here to orlando fl 3 yrs ago.

Here we go with the problems
1) only one good area for schools which is dr phillips, and the houses here start at $600,000.
2) the nice area and the ghetto are on the same streets here. You have million dollar homes and projects on the same street.
3)people here are sooooooooooo stuck up and rude, very clickish.
4)alot of adultry in the dr phillips crowd
5)only good place to live if your a doctor or a millionaire retired person
6)FOOD HERE SUCKS, there is no good restaurants, if you go to myflorida.com you can pull up all the restaurants in the area's latest inspections, you will see they harbour roaches, store food on the floor, have rat droppings etc.
7) The schools here are horrible, education is awful. You have to pay 1200 to lake highland private school for a half decent education.
8) The rent for apartments here is Read More

"West Coast" type city on East coast - 5/27/2006
I am from Orange County, CA and was relocated to Orlando(Orange County, FL) 3 years ago. Other then the hot, humid weather from May to Sept, it would seem I'm still living in southern CA. Since moving to the east coast, I have traveled around to other cities out here and Orlando is the nicest, cleanest, and most like a "west coast" type city I've seen on the east coast. The weather from Oct to April here is almost exactly like southern CA weather! I would recommend this city to anyone who enjoys living in a progressive, modern, clean and exciting city with pleanty to do, and tons more stuff to do nearby. I actually like Central Florida better then Southern California! ...and the home prices out here are still "half" of what they are in Orange County, Read More

Is this the end? - 5/24/2006
I think it's crazy how high the rental market is getting in Orlando. Apartment complexes are going co-op everywhere in town and I don't get it because this isn't New York! What's Read More

It's All Relative... - 5/13/2006
Alright, we get the point: if you're from New York City or Los Angeles, Orlando is a quaint little Southern town with few amenities and a backwards view on the world. For the majority of us who don't (or didn't) live in a megalopolis though, Orlando can seem big and even intimidating. What you think of Orlando ultimately comes down to where you move here from. This comment is intended for those who are considering moving to Orlando from rural areas, small towns, and regional-sized cities... if you are from NYC, LA, DC, or some other metropolis, my comments have no significance to you because you will have a different experience.

PROS: Orlando has beautiful weather for most of the year, and the urge to get outside and do something never subsides if you like warm weather. The beach is 50-70 miles in either direction, and if you don't have time to make the drive there are several natural springs and waterparks within the metro area. Compared to where you're coming Read More

Property Crime, Personal Injury Crime on rise - 5/12/2006
I've lived here since 2001 and I've watched the crime rates leap higher and higher. From road rage to murder, from theft to vandalism, from rape to sexual predators, this place is going to H _ _ _ in a handbasket fast. I live in a gated community.....doesn't mean a thing! We've had predators living here, we've had violent crime, we've had burglary to vandalism. The police don't even come anymore to break up fights or loud parties, etc. I wouldn't recommend to anyone to move to Orlando unless they are Read More
