How safe is Warner Robbins for a young family with - 7/27/2013
Can anybody please provide some insight on how safe of a city Warner Robbins is, and any positive or negative comments on how it is living there in general. I will be relocating my family there from Florida for a job opportunity and want to make sure that either Warner Robbins or another town/city nearby, is a good place to live and raise a family.

reynolds: city of non-growth - 3/28/2009
What ever! as soon as anyone can they leave. Be it after graduation or because of all the racial domniation and lack of jobs, social activity........you name it! Reynolds doesn't have it. Thats how they want it and exactly they want to keep it! Sorry to offend but there are far worse things I could Read More

What to do with it: - 12/10/2008
My years-ago boyfriend said they oughtta flatten all the buildings and stores, move them all out to the edges of town and make a giant parking lot in between.

Dull - 10/17/2008
Currently, This is a sad and hard place to live. Previous comments about no recreation, no culture, no historical background, and absolutely nothing to do here is so very true. The “city” exists because of and revolves around the air force base. It appears the highest aspiration, here, is to get a job on the base. The community is the epitome of tiny minds living in small boxes. An aurora of apathy and non-contentment permeates here--you certainly cannot say that "Southern Hospitality" and friendliness flourishes here, and it comes across as cliquish, at times. I would say race relationships and how people see themselves is substantially below other areas of the country--or, at least other places where I have lived.
Prime example: When first arriving here and looking for a church to attend, it was explained to me, by several people, that there were “black churches” and there were “white churches,” and which would be better for me to attend (church attendance of all Read More

Public transportation - 7/21/2008
Warner Robins is a small but crucial town for the military base Rabins AFB stationed here. Its a good place to live but, there is no public transportation at all. The job market is mostly military involved in and off base. There is plenty of shopping around. The main thing to be aware of is, if you do not own a car you are pretty much forced to take a cab Read More

Severely Limited - 12/6/2007
Culture and recreation within Warner Robins are extremely limited. The reasonable cost of living is offset with having to drive 100 miles to the Atlanta area for significant culture attractions. Warner Robins does not have a central city park or any type of citywide celebration. The only abundant types of recreation are bars, chain restaurants, and church. The closest "Fine Dining" restaurant is a 30 minute drive north in the city of Macon. The local YMCA is struggling to stay open despite a huge need for the organization. The city has grown very quickly over the past ten years, but has not built facilities to accomodate the increase in residents. To the contrary, business taxes are much higher and laws more restrictive than most adjacent towns - encouraging business to move outside the city limits. On the up side - Atlanta, Savannah, Athens, South Carolina, and Florida are all fairly Read More

A Great Place To Raise Your Kids - 7/17/2007
Like most people in Warner Robins, my family was stationed at Robins AFB for 6 years. The people there are VERY nice and the schools on the southside are one of the best in the nation. If you enjoy southern hospitality, you will find it in Warner Robins. I particularly don't care for the hustle and bustle of the city life, mainly traffice, so Warner Robins was great for us. It's a small town with plenty of things to do and Macon is only 20 minutes away if you do enjoy the city. Warner Robins has a very low crime rate and the housing is very affordable! The town is also very military friendly. My son also had the best Pediatrician. And yes, it get's hot in the summer, but unless you live in Alaska, it's hot everywhere! So don't let anyone fool you about the healthcare or people being "uneducated" in that area. I will be the first to say, I'll be back there when we retire in 3 Read More

Warner Robins is everything you want in a small town. Great schools, great neighbors, virtually no crime, unbelievable growth. Great military town, but due to that we might be leaving. I love it Read More
