Missing Tulsa! - 6/16/2024
I have moved from Tulsa in 2002 and miss it so much! Tulsa area was where I was born and raised, I moved to Indiana for marriage. I actually want so badly to move back since losing my husband to cancer but cannot afford to. Tulsa is very hot in the summer but the winters are not near as bad as here. It is the people I miss the most! They are so much more friendly and helpful to their neighbors IMO. Tulsa is a beautiful friendly Read More

Tulsa is Better and Offers a Bit more than Most - 2/2/2022
I have lived in Tulsa, OK since 2004 meanwhile raising a family and having career modifications, etc. Additionally, I have lived in Florida, Texas, and Nebraska; I have traveled and been to many of the states within the USA for one reason or another. Regardless of the negatives, life is what you make of it where ever you land. If you are married, single, younger, or older Tulsa offers a great variety of higher education selection with about 5 universities to choose from, at least 4 Community College locations, and not to mention technical schools beyond that. There is plenty to do if you know where to look. Community is about what you contribute. Anyone can make their home a better place. Tulsa's vast selection of restaurants, parks, golf courses, extra curricular venues adds value here. Cost of living comparably is reasonable. It is easy to get around. Tulsa also has its share of morons, but so does anywhere you Read More

Just okay - 11/29/2020
Nice enough but not welcoming to "outsiders". Tulsa has the slowness of the south but without the hospitality. Honestly there is no reason to make this a permanent home. Read More

Nah - 9/23/2020
The good, is that many people are outwardly warm-hearted, and will go out of their way to help. but that doesn’t necessarily mean that they want to be your friend or even have anything to do with you. Kindness is force of habit and social capital here. I’m not saying that’s a bad thing - other regions could learn a lot from it. But good deeds don’t have the same interpersonal weight that they do in places where magnanimity equals intimacy. Its easy to meet people but once you scratch the surface you see it’s a very cliquey, small town place with lots of politics and pecking orders. Theres an insider-outsider mentality in every realm, and making true friends is tough, especially if you hate drama. People are extremely divided by race, class, wealth, politics, church, race, and anything else you can think of. Corruption is rampant in every aspect of life. Most people are from here, from close by or married/related. Huge brain drain. Too much crime. Will never be “on the Read More

Great little city to raise a family - 7/27/2020
I have lived in Tulsa since 1998. It isn't the best place in the world, but it is affordable, the people are friendly, overall, it's easy to get around. The suburbs have nationally ranked schools in education and sports. I've also lived in St Louis, Chicago, Raleigh, and Tampa, and this is definitely the safest place I've lived (and my career takes me into the worst areas of a city). I did a cost of living comparison of over 30 cities, compared to Tulsa, and was hard pressed to find anywhere as affordable. Check the unemployment rate compared to the rest of the U.S. The last time I checked, we were well under the national average. My step-daughter and her friends drive about 7 hours, 3 or 4 times a year, to experience the Tulsa night life. We also have one of the biggest Oktoberfest celebrations in the United Read More

Tulsa nice place - 6/29/2020
My wife and I have lived in the Tulsa area for nearly 18 years and it's not as bad as people say it is. There are some cities I've lived in that are worse than here such as Flint, MI, Jackson, MS, Beaumont, TX and New Orleans. I live in a suburb called Broken Arrow and it's nicer than Tulsa and it has pretty much everything you need without going to Tulsa, but Tulsa gets a bad rap because it's in Oklahoma and the past was really bad here because of the 1921 race riots but that was nearly 100 years ago. We have raised our kids here and they are getting a good education. Maybe some of you have bad experiences here, but I haven't. The only thing that I can say is, it can get pretty boring at times and you have to find something to do, but seriously please stop bashing Tulsa. Read More

Lived In Tulsa For 27 years & Still Love It! - 2/27/2020
I moved to Tulsa, OK in 93 from Miami, FL after Hurricane Andrew. I have lived in a few large cities before and on both east & west US coasts.

Tulsa has been good to us all these years. I dont understand these people leaving those horrible reviews about this city? Yes, Tulsa & Oklahoma does have some issues, but every city in the US does? Tulsa population is growing very quickly if this tells you anything!

This city contributes a lot of good things to people and families & has A LOT of good Christian people here who are NOT FAKE as one commenter stated. I know because I have owned a mobile cleaning business in Tulsa for 10 years now and am involved with community events here. There is many good things I can say about Tulsa, but havent got the time to go into it all. Just that Tulsa has been good to me since I have been here and to say to the critics that ANY place you live is what YOU make of your experiences? It is your choice what u make of it!  Read More

Tulsa time isn't worth it - 9/20/2019
I moved here on a job transfer, hoping that I found a city that offered affordable housing and a overall lower cost of living on life. I soon found out that I traded my happiness in for sadness. It's sad, honestly. Most of the people are like that here.

Tulsa is geography a beautiful city, scenic in some areas. The downtown is going through a makeover, but there's hardly anyone seen there but homeless people. The racist past of the city...black wall street is a constant reminder of what happened here and I've heard minorities complain about the racism here. The mayoral system is weak...the state government controls the city government to keep the city far right conservative as possible. People go hungry a lot as a result. Crime is high. The schools are a atrocity. The public transportation is a atrocity and the low wage almost non existent job market is another atrocity. The culture is supposed to be that of a southern city, but it feels midwestern to me. The people are Read More

So far my first choice - 7/29/2019
There is an extent of happiness in life that is your own choice. Having said that I try to look for the best wherever I am. I have lived in Ft Worth, Dallas, New Orleans, Baton Rouge, Tampa, and Tulsa. Tulsa is my first choice followed by Tampa, and Ft Worth.
The costs are affordable, weather nice, music great, parks outstanding, and the people are by far the kindest and happiest. Read More

A cesspool of misery - 2/8/2019
If I could rate zero stars...I would most definitely will. This is the most backwards, hateful, nasty, backstabbing town that I've ever seen in my life! Oh, did I failed to mentioned racist? Especially, in their good o boy hiring process they have here for jobs. Even their temp agencies use it and actively discriminate against anyone that has a iota of brain, morals and just happened to be born of color. White meth trash is all over the place with prejudice and bigoted attitudes. The people aren't even the slightest genuine. They use fake smiles and enthusiam...only for you to learn later they backstabbed you. They wouldn't know what human compassion and honesty meant if it slapped them side the face. They lie to you in your face, dumb, stupid hicks...while they profess to have "southern hospitality". First of all, there's nothing " southern " about Oklahoma. True southern states have much friendlier and genuine people. This place is another Midwestern hellhole. It's no wonder why Read More
