Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania is a bustling city located in the western part of the state. With a rich history and diverse culture, Pittsburgh attracts many residents from all over the country. In this particular place, there are a variety of neighborhoods and communities that offer unique experiences for those who call it home. To get a better understanding of what it's like to live in Pittsburgh, we will be summarizing several user reviews from BestPlaces.net. These reviews come from individuals who have first-hand experience living in the city and can provide valuable insights for those considering making Pittsburgh their home.

1. In their review, Susan R. describes Pittsburgh as "a hidden gem" with "tons of character." They go on to praise the city's affordable cost of living, saying "I can afford a nice house in a safe and quiet neighborhood without breaking the bank." Susan also mentions the abundance of outdoor activities and cultural events that make the city a great place to live.

2. James S. shares a similar sentiment, stating that Pittsburgh has "a unique charm that is hard to find in other cities." He also mentions the strong sense of community and friendly neighbors as major positives. However, James does note that traffic can be an issue, especially during rush hour.

3. According to John P., Pittsburgh is a "city of endless opportunities." He highlights the job market, education options, and entertainment as major draws for him and his family. John also appreciates the city's efforts in revitalizing its downtown area, making it a more vibrant and livable place.

4. In contrast, Emma L. expresses some disappointment with Pittsburgh, saying that it "lacks diversity and can feel very insular." She also mentions the weather, noting that winters can be long and harsh. However, Emma does acknowledge that the city has a "small-town feel" and is a good place to raise a family.

Overall, it seems that Pittsburgh offers a unique combination of affordability, community, and opportunities for its residents. While there may be some challenges, such as traffic and weather, many reviewers found the city to be a great place to live and would recommend it to others.

Pittsburgh,agood place to be from. - 3/29/2009

Ladies and Gentlemen,
I have travelled almost constantly since 1963,been almost everywhere and I have one finding, among many for my 27th book.Pittsburgh and the 100 mile radius with it being at the epicenter has the darkest, dreariest, cloudiest and most repulsive locale in the world.Twelve months per year it goes with almost no Sunshine,no hope.

WARINING: Before You Decide To Relocate ..... - 2/27/2009
Pittsburgh is an amazing city in regards to what it has to offer and could be comparable to Boston, DC or Seattle … HOWEVER all the arts, healthcare and low cost of living cannot suppress this city's major fault; the fervent obsession of the Steelers fan. There is no other region in the country that you will you find such a ruthless dedication to a sports team, almost reminiscent of the heinous lynch mobs of the fifties.

* A man walks into an Eat n Park and is beaten by several of the patrons for wearing a jersey of the opposing team .

* A woman debarking a plane from Boston has beverages thrown at her for wearing a Patriots jersey then security quietly chuckles to themselves over the incident.

* Two women return to their car in a mall parking lot to find it vandalized because they had a Browns logo on their vehicle. All the authorities could say "well you're in Steelers Country, you shouldn't have that on your car."

* A student Read More

Beltway????? - 2/17/2009
If you move to Pittsburgh you should first understand that Pittsburgh does not have a "Beltway" We have Belts instead. There is the Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue and Purple. Sound familiar? These are the colors of the rainbow.
These belts are the only way too get around on all the back roads. If we didn't have these signs with big red, orange, Etc. dots, we could not get from one place to another, especially in the north hills.
As mentioned above, the deer are a great hazard that the county doesn't seem to plan to do anything about. Oh, and if you plan to have a beautifully landscaped yard, forget it. The deer will eat ANYTHING. They will come right up to your porch to get it too.
I have seen a dozen or more deer in my backyard. The mess they leave behind is a health hazard. It is against the law to own livestock in Allegheny County, but the deer don't count I guess.
I am planning to leave Pittsburgh, although I grew up here, I have lived in other Read More

don't hate on the 'burgh! - 2/3/2009
I went to college in Pittsburgh, and I loved it there! Granted there are some rough areas, just like any city. However overall I felt safe. It's a big city with a small town feel. I will say this though, downtown after 6pm was a ghost town! This may have changed, but when I went to AIP in the 90's after 6 it was like this. We used to kid that it was the city that liked to sleep Read More

Born And Raised In Pittsburgh - 12/13/2008
Pittsburgh... I have to say is probably the best city in the world! (TO MY OPINION) I've seen some negative comments on here about pittsburgh... It really offends me that some people would think this way about pittsburgh... I know to them it doesnt seem soooo important... But to US the people who were born and raised here...... it means the UNIVERSE to us to know that millions of other people live and breath in this city and stand up for whats rightfully theirs!!!! But one more important thing.... Is that we can all STICK TOGETHER threw thick and thin just to pull threw something.... You guys are probably reading this going ''When has THIS ever happened???'' And i KNOW this HAS happened.... Maybe some people in pittsburgh dont like the steelers but they dont hate them either.... AND WE respect that but when the steelers are losing on a game Everyone who absaloutly LOVES them is sitting there watching.... And hoping that they'll pull threw and WIN this game for sure!!!! So Next Time Read More

reply to a negative pittsburgh comment - 12/3/2008
I was born and raised in Pittsburgh. I am in my late twenties and love it here! Pittsburgh people are unique and fun. If you are a cool outsider, we will accept you with open arms, but if you are lame, which this person sounds like he is, then of course you won't fit in with the "clique." And what red blooded American doesn't like football? It doesn't matter if its 80 and sunny, or 20 and snowing, if football is on, I'm watching it, and my ass is not fat, and no, I don't drink iron city either, I prefer vodka martini's. I have a very good job, where I make about $20,000 more than my girlfriends that live in Annapolis, Chicago, and LA, yet my living expenses are half as much, with much nicer ammenities too including a fireplace, swimming pool, gym, tanning bed, and golf course. I can actually afford to travel several times a year to Vegas, the Carribean, on a cruise or wherever I want because I am not strapped with overpriced rent or mortgages. The weather here is not the Read More

Affordable living ! - 11/25/2008
I am originally from New York City and have lived in Pittsburgh for 11 years. I can say that this city has very affordable housing ! The cost of living is low and yes compared to NYC it is heaven economically. One does make less money here but one can afford to live in a spacious nice apartment or home. One can live on one income here also and have a savings Read More

One of America's worst cities - 11/20/2008
I lived in Pittsburgh for 1.5 yrs (2006- 2008) and it is a miserably depressing place. 300 plus rainy days a year (more than Seattle). In January 2008, we did not see the sun for 22 days in a row. Humid and wet - all houses have severe problems with mold. Not just in the basements, either. You have to clean the mold that grows inside your toilets every few days. Pittsburgh is America's second most polluted city (LA is #1) and has the highest number of pneumonia cases per year. If you have allergies or asthma, you will be in constant agony. The city is still rapidly declining - job and popluation losses. The state of Pennsylvania has the most vrestrictive liquor controls in the country (tied with Utah). If you are a wine lover like me, you will be miserable. Beer is sold at some distributors, but all wine and liquor is sold only at very small state owned stores with extremely limited selections and the taxes are very high. For example, if you want a Pinot Noir you will be lucky if you Read More

Not a good place to live - 10/25/2008
I have lived in Pittsburgh PA, all my life, and let me tell you it's a commonwealth state and no opportunities. This is not a great place to raise your kids. Don't take my word though, this is just my experience and that is why my family of 6 is relocating out of the state of Read More
