Massachusetts climate - 1/17/2008
Typical New England weather patterns(frequently chnaging) with 4 distinct seasons. Winters can be cold with lots of snow in the north and western parts of the state but milder and rainy on the cosat and Cape. Spring is comfortable and can come in early March lasting through mid-June. Summers range from warm and humid to dry and hot with at least a week or two in the upper nineties. But autumn arrives with cooler tempreatures as the leaves change colors and the days shorten. Probably the best season but all too Read More

Boston Native - 12/11/2007
I was born and raised in Massachusetts. I have positives and negatives that I can say about this state. What I will say is that if you don't like the cold then don't move here! It gets cold in the winter. The problem isn't even the low temps it's the wind chill. Since Boston is located right on the coast when that wind starts to blow it will feel about 20 degrees colder than what it really is. In the summer it does get hot and humid! Really humid! So if you are concerned about your hair - it will frizz! As for the people, there is a reason why Boston is known as the rudest city in the country. I have done my share of travelling around the U.S. and I will admit that the people here are pretty rude. Not everyone but a good percentage are. If anything you should worry about the drivers. The drivers here (including myself) are very agressive. You have no other choice to be, people will not think twice about cutting you off on the road. On top of that Boston is also very expensive. Time to move out - 9/24/2006
My wife and I have both lived in Mass. for all our lives (so far) which is almost 50 years. And I haven't a clue why we have not moved out sooner. Actually we owned a business here for 15 years. That and our daughter in college kept us in the area. But since we are free of both we have been searching for a better part of the country to move to. The business climate is difficult for the small business person. Insurance (health, auto, you name it) is out of control. The housing market HAS COLLAPSED here. Our house is for sale and nobody is looking after 2 price declines. Cost of living in general is out of control. Roads are bad, getting worse and traffic is bad and getting worse. The patronage in the state has caused state pensions and road costs to become a serious burden. Taxes are high especially property taxes and the job outlook anywhere outside of Boston is poor to fair.

The good news (no I did pay a lot for my car insurance), if you do not mind the snow (I don't but Read More
