What BestPlaces Users Say about New York

New York is a diverse and bustling state known for its busy cities, lively cultural scene, and rich history. With a population of over 19 million people, it is the fourth most populous state in the US. Many people are drawn to New York for its job opportunities, world-renowned universities, and vibrant atmosphere. However, like any place, it also has its drawbacks, such as high cost of living and crowded living spaces.

User reviews on BestPlaces.net provide a unique insight into the experiences of those who have lived in New York. One reviewer, Anna, highlights the variety of opportunities in the state, stating "New York is truly the land of opportunities. From finance to fashion, there's something for everyone." Another reviewer, John, praises the state's cultural scene, saying "I love living in New York because there's always something to do. Museums, concerts, festivals, you name it." However, not all reviews are positive. Sarah shares her frustrations with the high cost of living, stating "I moved to New York for a job, but the cost of living is so high that it's hard to save up or afford anything other than a small apartment." Another reviewer, Michael, echoes this sentiment, saying "The traffic and crowds in New York can be overwhelming, and the cost of living is outrageous. It's not an easy place to live." Overall, while there are many positives to living in New York, these reviews show that it may not be the right fit for everyone and that the high cost of living is a common concern among residents.

New York State - The Vampire State - 7/7/2006
For those considering a move to the once great state of New York - don't do it! The politicians are some of the worst on the American political landscape, unless, of course, you enjoy socialism. Taxpayers in this state are treated like little ATM machines that can be tapped at will by the politburo in Albany. New York has been in decline for decades, with the decline almost surely continuing unabated in the years to come. It is too bad, as there is some great, physical beauty in this state. But the ugliness of the political system far outweighs the beautiful scenery. And besides, New York does not have the market cornered on nature's wonders. There are plenty of states which have natural beauty that matches or surpasses that of New York, but lack the heinous political class that sucks the life out of the state.

DON'T EVER MOVE TO NYC The Worst place to live in - 5/12/2006
I have lived in NYC for a decade, and have hated it. Can't stand it anymore. Why ? not to mention that it's the most expensive place to live in America
1) Its all about what you do, how much you make, and who you know. 2) Rude, pushy, nasty inconsiderate people who blab loud on their cellphones in public, to impress total strangers with what they do, how much they make, and who they know. 3) It's filthy dirty. 4) Natives pretend to like Sushi in an effort to appear cultured. 5) Infested with snotty elitist liberals. 6) WTC Memorial (shamefully impotent replacement for the towers) 7) Only a matter of time before it becomes the first US city to suffer a nuclear terror attack. 8) undocumented Immigrants. 9)high levels of crime

Move somewhere else and you won't regret it.
