I came here to get an idea of what one might expect living here and am blown away at the amount of negativity that people have about this place. Quite frankly it depresses my thoughts of this city and area. I live in the mountains of Colorado and while in the summer it is simply the most beautiful place on earth I'm over the snow and harshness of cold winters up here and I'm not much of a city guy.
After reading all of this it seems to me that making a "good" living there would be next to impossible. I am a skilled welder and my gal a career (26+ years) Exec Assistant wouldn't make squat there... Is that really true? Is the crime really that bad? Is the gang activity really as bad as it is portrayed here? Who likes to have to walk through that to get a burger or an ice cream? I pull up on my Harley and am going to have to have troubles for simply being there?
Please, locals and positive transplants speak up here. I've been all over this site (and the net) looking for area's and this is by far the most negative comments I have found for where I would like to move to. Are people really that unfriendly? I have friends in Farmington that do nothing but brag on it (But really no jobs).
I'm truly hoping to get some feed back here, and if you agree with these opinions and have not posted already and happen to come by please chime in. I'd really like to have some new and fresh opinions here. Thank you very much.
