Living in the Southwest

I moved to Abq 3 years ago from the Midwest and have been very happy with the move. Sure I miss the green of the Midwest but I don't miss wind chill and heat index. The public schools are not very good because of the size of APS, but there are talks of breaking this up into east side and west side which would help. The private schools are very good and much less expensive than private schools in other cities. Regarding crime, just don't live in the South Valley or the Southwest side. The Northeast side is very nice and the Northwest side is great, full of professional couples with young children and better housing prices. Regarding housing, it is more expensive than the Midwest but much more reasonable than Western cities around us, Denver, Co Springs, Las Vegas or Phoenix. Beautiful weather, wonderful landscapes and lots of outdoor activities. I don't regret the move one bit.
