Ok, I visit Atlanta frequently. I even just purchased property in Smyrna. I'm not sure where everyone is from who is complaining about Atlanta, but let me just tell you this. I live in Los Angeles. If ANYONE has a right ti complain about traffic it would definitely be us! Atlanta is a growing city (a rapidly growing city). You have to ask yourself why that is? It's because the cost of living is cheaper than places like NYC, Chicago, L.A., Arizona (read the largest cities). If you're coming from someplace where the cost of living is already low then you can't complain about moving (you obviously wanted to leave your city of residence for some reason). As far as the people go...people are people! No matter where you go people can be rude & obnoxious. Heck, just me saying I live in L.A. probably raised some of your eyebrows. And rent...you're paying $1600 for a 3 BR home! Part of me wants to reach out and thump you on the back of the head. Do you know what a 3BR rents for in L.A.!!!! it definitely isn't $1600 (heck, that's barely a 2 BR/2BA apartment in a semi-decent neighborhood). I will glady trade in Los Angels for Atlanta any day!!

Just to respond--paying 2 months rent down and having several interviews for the same job is common for a big city, as much as that sucks. 1600 for a 3 bedroom is not a lot at all in a big city, either.

I am in total agreement with you. I have been here four months also and from day one, I had nothing but racist comments made to me. I am not in a fight with the place I live because the people upstairs are very loud and have me and my daughter taking headache medication. They make noise all night, vacuuming at 12 at night, I am looking for another job which isn't easy being in the govt who takes their sweet time. I hate it just as you do. Traffic is the worst I have ever seen and I was born and raised in NYC. ATL is certainly not what it's all cracked up to be. I wish I never came here. Best wishes to you leaving I pray that you get out.

Well I have to say that you live in Riverdale..LOLLL...not really in Atlanta. Thats a city OUTSIDE of Atlanta. And if someone asks you to pay that much for a rental home in Riverdale, you got played!!! Riverdale is SOUTH of the city, I've found rental homes in that area for $800 for three bedrooms, I don't know where you were looking, but your resources are outdated. I'd pay that much living in Atlantic Statio or closer to downtown. And people move FAR away from the city and wonder why they have a bad commute, its crazy! No, the prices in the city are not the most affordable, but why live somewhere where there is no public transportation so you can at park and catch one of the express buses or bus or train system. I've caught the bus and rail system for YEARS. I drive to the station and park and get on the bus because I work right downtown, I've NEVER had issues and I NEVER get caught in traffic. I plan ahead. Yes, Atlanta is becoming a bit congested. We have SOOOO many people coming here from all over the world (daily) that its ridiculous. And most of them make the most of their relocation, but alot of them start complaining as soon as they get here. When I go north, particularly NY, I don't complain about how filthy the city is or how expensive the cost of living is or how VERYYYYYYY rude, potty mouth, and LOUD some of these individuals are. I keep it moving because this IS their city and this is what THEY do. Why would I complain??? Its like if you don't like it, MOVE--stop bashing places because they don't cater to your every needs, sometimes its not the place, sometimes its you?

This town was great in the 80's and 90's.Go to any event that is city sponsored,community oriented,and it's either all black or all gay or both ! The city government is strictly used for AA extortion of taxpayer dollars.It's like Detroit,Washington DC and New Orleans.Hush hush,don't say that,your'e a racist ! The only thing that saves this town is an amazing economy,good entertainment,major sports,and it's the only big city in the south between DC and Miami.Tune into AM 750 Neal Boortz to get a better idea of Atlanta before moving here unless you have a great financial opportunity.

I agree with your statement. I believe that ATL is over rated. However, each individual has his/her preferences. In my humble opinion, ATL is great to visit, yet I wouldn't want to live there.

I noticed that your location says Riverdale. Try moving further north and you will find better jobs.When I fisrt moved to Atlanta I lived in College Park (hated it!) After my lease expired, I moved to Midtown and loved it; no traffic, better jobs, schools etc. After 5 years of living in Atlanta I moved to Ft Lauderdale and I hate it here; I cant wait to move back to Atlanta. I have to deal with old people who dont know how to drive, uncivilized people and then most jobs require you to be bilingual (english & spanish)Rent is also much much more expensive than Atlanta.
