Want to relocate to Austin area.

I am from Phoenix, AZ. where it is really hot and one reason for leaving here. I here people say Texas is hot, but I guess it depends on where you come from. I know AZ. has a dry heat and easier to live with but maybe the heat in Austin is humid which makes it hotter. The summers in Phoenix last for almost 5 months. I'm sure not the case in Austin.
I am a senior woman, I drive and would like to know the best area for me to be in near Austin. I seen that city once and just loved it, it seems so different.
