Nice Enough when compared to rest of Texas

Austin is the most hyped, over-rated city I've ever lived in. The culture here consists primarily of the bar scene on 6th Street, along with a decent music festival. The quality of the schools are fair, the cost of living is the highest of any city in TX, the weather is friggin' HOT 6 months of the year (100-degree days in early October are not uncommon), and the locals are mostly a bunch of aging hippies who talk about how great everything was in the 70's.
Downtown Austin is currently undergoing a tremendous boom in high-rise condo construction. Something like 15-20 buildings either currently under construction or planned to start in next 12-months, with most of these being 30-50 stories tall. These condo towers will be as tall or taller than any building currently in downtown, and will forever change the perception of Austin as a people-friendly, livable city.
If you feel you must live in Texas, then Austin is probably your best bet. However, you can do much better!!
