Thinking about moving...

My husband and I are thinking about moving to Austin once he finishes school in a couple of years. We are currently living in Los Angeles. He is a native Southern Californian and I am from Northern California, went to school in Texas, and then moved back to Cali.
We are planning on making a trip to Austin this summer - I am convinced that Austin is the place I want to raise our children - he is excited to move but he needs to see Austin before we make a solid decision. Where/what are the best places for him to see so that he gets a great look at what Austin is all about?
