Austin vs. Round Rock, etc.

I've lived in Austin for over 6 years and have lived in Round Rock a couple of those years. Round Rock is its own city North of Austin. It's really more like a suburb of Austin. There are definitely more suburban type people and homes here. Round Rock lacks the culture and character that Austin has. Neither city is really beautiful as far as scenery goes. Real "Austinites" who love Austin would argue that. There are some pretty hike and bike trails and there is zilker gardens and things like that in Austin, but it's far too hot to enjoy being outside here! And once you've seen the famous bat colony come out from under the bridge at dusk, it's really not that big a deal anymore. 6th street is overhyped. Well, you'd like it if you like to get drunk and be around a lot of gross people. The allergies are really difficult here too. I feel it's taken a toll on my immune system. The best things about Austin are that there are a lot of natural/organic minded people. Whole Foods Market and other health food stores, etc. There are a lot of alternative health practictioners, massage therapists, etc. We also have a big film community and more and more big company movies are being shot here. I've even been an extra in a few. There is a good art community in general. I will probably sacrifice those things to move to another city that has a smaller population (less traffic, stress), fresher air, cooler temperatures, prettier scenery. Hope this helps.
