Austin is changing RAPIDLY... building on & destro

Austin is like the rest of America. It's changing toooo fast. Hordes of people and developers are descending on Austin, attracted by its natural beauty, the unique lifestyle of a university town that is also the capitol of Texas, and the economic opportunities that are better here compared to the Rust Belt. Unfortunately, that which made Austin so special is getting hammered in the process -- not that unique niches don't exist, it's just that they're getting more expensive by the minute. Austin is a fabulous place to live if you're rich or comfortably upper middle class. It can be wonderful if you're single with no dependents. But if you're middle-middle class white with kids, it's kinda tough to find a safe, affordable niche with good schools -- at least not anywhere close to Austin proper; but that seems to be the case in most American cities these days, thanks to the overthrow of states' rights & majority rule by the Supreme Court. Sure, you can go live in the far-flung suburbs -- but then you’re not really in Austin anymore. You're in suburbia. And Austin suburbia isn't all that different from suburbia anywhere else. The only difference is the urban hub around which it spins. Sure, I'd pick Austin over Detroit or Houston any day, but that's not saying all that much. In the final analysis: Got dough? Austin's a great place to go!
