The other comment prompted me to offer my 2 cents. It's hilarious to hear Austinites talk about bad drivers! Texans are the worts driver's I've ever encountered! But tht aside, there are some other reasons not to move here aside from the provincialism of the locals. The mian reason is that the liberal vibe of Austin is liberal only in relation to the rest of Texas. When was the last time you ehard of anything good coming from this state? I rest my case.
But I have more to say-- The culture of Texas is myopic and self-satisfied to the point of being suffocating. Austin is loving itself to death. If you like bad food, intellectually lazy people and mosquitoes, Austin is the place for you. If you are intereted in the world, enjoy stimulating conversation, and want access to more culture than mediocre pop ands and folk music, look elswhere. But houses are darn cheap.
