Price of housing

As is true everywhere, the cost of housing has skyrocketed in the past (2,3?) decades; Austin is no exception. Houses that sold for 50 thousand dollars in the 70s are now priced at a quarter million dollars (or more!)
And yet, people keep flocking to Austin - despite these prices - despite the high humidity - and despite the increase in population that appears to be overwhelming the scenery and resources of the beautiful Hill Country that surrounds and embraces this city.
