I am considering a move to austin and am hoping I could get some opinions about what neighborhoods are good to move to. I am a middle-class white guy and want to move to a section of the city that has affordable housing and is safe. what neighborhoods are good, and what neighborhoods should I avoid? all comments appreciated. thanks!

Look for something west of I35, preferably west of MoPac if you are concered about security. safe and affordable generally puts you on the north side of town. You might also consider the burbs on the north of Austin (Round Rock, Cedar Park). Also, there is a pocket of affordable stuff south of Ben White between Manchaca and MoPac which is fairly safe, and close to the art and music scene, if that's what you're into.
