Chicago to Austin

I believe it is important to come down and visit before moving here. There are many great places. As far as avoiding anything East of I35, that doesn't give all information. The previous poster who brought up the Round Rock and Pflugerville as nice places and are out of Austin as suburbs, they do have good schools and lost of shopping, and LOTS of traffic. West areas are higher priced. However, East of I-35 (I'm not talking just East of Central Austin), but the East suburbs, are where all the growth will be occuring. Cities like Manor, Elgin, Bastrop, etc. are growing. And south in Kyle and Buda, they are also growing. East of I-35 will be getting the new Samsung location, also a major movie production company is moving in. Two of the towns got main street renewal programs from the governor. The housing Northeast is going steady, East and Southeast will be growing as in just the cities above, there are plans to build more than 10,000 homes. I recommend using bestplaces to get an overview and checking individual cities online and through the newspaper.
