Not that bad, but not great...

I can understand some Austin-native frustration, but some people here take the pop growth way too personally. The hipsters can be a bit pretentious too touting their coolness...it's so lame I just have to laugh. In any case, I was drawn here because of the smaller city, recreation and beautiful hill country, good food, music, school spirit(hook'em horns), and southern hospitality. However, they have freakin' long hot summers, the drivers are a bit scary due to the diversity of people moving here(growing pains I assume), the infrastructure is poor because Austin fought the growth for so long and are now playing catch up, and there's a big homeless/pan-handler problem here - expect to be hit up half a dozen times down on 6th Street. In short, it's not bad, but it's not that special either..
