Review of Austin, Texas

Alergies
Star Rating - 7/5/2006
We are considering a job offer from UT for my husband which would relocate us to Austin from England for the forseeable future.
I saw that alergies are a problem. Can anyone be more specific? My husband has mild asthma (no medication most of the time) and is mostly allergic to mould spores. He doesn't have hayfever. Our 7 year old daughter has hayfever.
Also we'd like to live near the university. Are there any family/mixed neighbourhoods with decent schools nearby? I saw Hyde Park mentioned earlier in the postings. We lived in Palo Alto previously and my husband loved being 5 minutes by bike from his office at Stamford. Our son could cycle himself to school. We loved that freedom.
any suggestions gratefully received.
