There are a lot of nice places to live, lots of jobs in some fields, good schools in some places, good recreation, natural areas to explore, museums, the arts, etc. You just need to be very careful when selecting a place to put down roots.
AND Washington DC is only an hour away. Everything is there, but the cost of living is higher, I'm sure.
I would suggest for anyone relocating anywhere - take a leave of absence from your job, if you can; find an appt or cheap extended stay hotel, and check out different locations before committing yourself.
