In all honesty….

Brownsville, TX- Well, I’ve lived here about 5 years now and it’s pretty different. If you speak Spanish you stand a better chance of success. It’s REALLY culturally driven which is okay. However, I feel it should be given back to Mexico. Almost everyone here is Hispanic and proud of it. I honestly respect that but in this case there’s no room for diversity. It’s more like a retirement place with no desire for change. Harlingen- which is approximately 30 minutes away offers so much more. I can’t quite figure that out but it is what it is.
Driven- forget it. There seems to be no rules. Little to no cops and that can sometimes be a problem. There are a lot of people that seem very bias and borderline prejudiced. If you are Mexican you will be ran over if you aren’t careful.
On a positive note: I do like the city! I just need to learn Spanish. Mexico isn’t to far. Just take an id care and birth certificate. I write with positive vibes being honest. I wish the people here didn’t carry such attitudes and would be more accepting towards All races and it would be so much better!
