I've lived here for 5 years. I moved here from Las Vegas to work in a couple of the smaller hotels in the area. I liked Chapel Hill the first couple of months I was here, but as I was here longer, I noticed alot of negative things, in particular, the snobby people. No one here is friendly, and people have a tendency to be rude. I blame it on the New Yorkers and people from New Jersey, and other parts of New England who move here in droves. (If youre reading this and youre from that area, I don't mean to offend you), but the area has become more rude during the pandemic. I've also lived in Denver and in Los Angeles and and between the 3 cities, Chapel Hill tops them all in rudeness and snobbiness. I don't know why the people here are so snobby. Chapel Hill is nothing special. Sure its a "college town", but there are lots of college towns, and although the city seems to rank high in livability, I think those rankings come from people who have never lived here. Don't come here unless you enjoy being around "stand-offish" people. The town is beautiful, lots of trees, and mild winters, but the people are ugly.

I disagree that Chapel Hill doesn't offer restaurants and things to do. There's plenty of both of those here. And there's crime everywhere in NC. Chapel Hill is a small town. Its not going to have what Raleigh has. But the problem I have with Chapel Hill is the snobby people. I grew up in the south, then moved to NC from another southern state. I find that the climate (atmosphere) here is like NYC or NJ.....rudeness, no manners, no one's friendly...thats Chapel Hills MAIN problem.
