Review of Charlotte, North Carolina

Not a place for singles
Star Rating - 10/16/2011
Charlotte is a beautiful place to raise a family, mostly everyone is married in the 20's here. If you are single, looking for fun and excitement this place is not for you. If you are in your late 20's and single, you're considered over the hill. The women outnumber the men, the clubs close at 2:00am and you can't buy liquor after 9pm.

Charlotte certainly isn't the most happening city in the country, it is young and hasn't grown into itself yet. (Basically it appears to have grown too quick, with too many transplants arriving at one time). You can find things to do in Charlotte almost every night / weekend, it is certainly not dead. There are activities, night spots, choice in entertainment, and it is fairly progressive. A good deal of the elements anyway. I think what gets boring and uninspiring are THE PEOPLE! It can be so damn cliquish! All the Charlotte natives / southerners stay within their own inner circles. They remain low-profile in the shadow of the nonstop influx of transients coming in. So don't count on being adopted into these folds. The transplants, making friends with them, well, that's hit and miss. Many of them are either retirees or mid-age professionals that move to Charlotte for a job transfer with their families. Their lives, naturally, are consumed with kids, school, and atypical suburban life. I agree with many on here, if you're single in Charlotte, it may definitely take a good while to establish your own niche. It's just the culture

This is true, but you forgot to tell everyone reading your post that that a large majority of them are on anti-depressants. They bought into the fairy tale of the American dream, but can't figure out why they are not happy ? Everyone around town likes to boast that Charlotte is the 2nd largest financial center on the east coast, the 3 hrs. from the beach and mountains and how wonderful life is in the Queen city. This place will surprise you to be the most boring, dullest place on earth, based on all the hype you bought into if you relocated here. For fun,you can decide on which Harris Teeter you are gonna go to on any given day. On the other hand, there are a large majority of people that fit right in. Married, home owner, part your hair on the side, work 9-5,watch NASCAR,dine out at Applebee's,live in sprawling suburbia, attend church 3 times a week, watch sports, take 1 vacation a year. If this is you,go for it.
