Unless your sole aim in life is to have a big house..this place offers nothing.

I must agree that Charlotte is a dry, boring city with no personality. I have been here 8 years. People from the Northeast (NY,NJ,CT) seem to love it here for the lower taxes and the "weather". This town revolves around kids and families. Most singles (especially over 35) seem to have a difficult time getting plugged in. Even the churches are dry and boring and seem to idolize the children and forget about everyone else. It's about NASCAR, Panthers, Checkers, Bobcats (all sports), kids, suburbia, big houses, SUVs, going to bars and restaurants. I live in the Ballantyne area and people are snooty and judgmental. Housing under 100K are usually dumps that need lots of work, or are in drug-running neighborhoods, so I don't believe the cost of housing here is cheap at all. I am not knocking Charlotte or the folks that like it here, but unfortunately I am stuck here for now.
