Review of Charlotte, North Carolina

not much for active, sinlge lifestyles
Star Rating - 10/14/2007
Just relocate to charlotte from chicago in August for a job.

I was looking foward to the cheaper cost of living and warmer climate, which Charlotte definitely has... however, it does not offer much else to young, unmarried people. The restaurant scene is mostly chains. Most touring acts seem to skip Charlotte in favor of Raleigh, Atlanta or D.C. I'm also an avid runner, and there definitely isn't a running community here.

Charlotte is a great low cost city... but it definitely seems to have more to offer families than singles.

Yep,I agree.I did stints in Charlotte and Raleigh, both suck if you are single and lifestyle oriented. It's not the place, there are some that are really trying,it's the people that are there. My 75 year old mother even said descibed the people as 'corny'.It's full of people that cannot function without full time structure and companionship.Anybody disputing this ? Just put someone from Vegas,NY,San Fran,or Miami there for a few weeks to try it out.See what they tell you.

Charlotte is a dry boring barren place for singles, unless you drink alcohol and are a sports fanatic. You can only visit the museums so many times. The churches have forgotten the singles. They have ministries for married, preschool, toddlers, college, seniors but nothing for career single adults. I have heard that CHOA and Meetup.com are good ways to get out there and have something to do. My problem is, that as of now June 2008, I can't stand the incredibly hot weather we are having and I just want to stay in the A/C on the weekends!!
