Review of Cleveland, Ohio

The worst place in The United States
Star Rating - 3/23/2018
I worked in Cleveland as limo driver who took people back and forth from the airport to downtown and the hospitals all day everyday. Most customers had only bad things to say about the city. Nine out of Ten would lock the doors once we got downtown or got to E.55th st to go to the hospitals. When we arrived downtown at night everyone would say" this place is freaking dead." I was always so embarrassed of the city. In the winter time the customers would all ask "what kind of city does not have roads" in reference to the pot hole problem. When asked what is there to do in Cleveland I would always respond " try not to make it home alive" or " stand at tower city and try and figure what on earth anyone is saying". I have driven all across America 3 times and Cleveland is by far the worst place I have ever been. The downtown is not safe I was robbed 3 times at gunpoint while minding my own business. The police and city are on a whole different level of corruption. They turn the traffic lights off during morning rush hour and extort motorists who don't know to treat the non working light as a 4 way stop. How is that in the interest of public safety? The people who live there are clueless as to what a crappy place it is. They are all obsessed with sports and very few other things to talk about. They get very defensive if anyone brings up a logical question as to why their city is the pits. After all what kind of moron lives in place that cold and that poor? The suburbs are all segregated if you are poor and black you live east and if you are middle class and white you live west. The property taxes are near the same rates as NYC and way more than any beach town other than California. The city has nothing to offer to justify these rates other than they are crooks and the people who live there are brain dead. It took me 2 weeks to buy a home in the suburbs and 4 years to sell the place after my seemingly nice town turned into a gang war when all the criminals moved from the inner city after the housing crash. It took them 2 years to figure out homes were cheap and they all moved in and the whole neighborhood turned into a section 8 3rd world country. I would never ever, ever, go back to visit this city for any reason. They worship Iron chef Michael Simon who owns most of the restaraunts downtown and they all are overpriced and the food sucks. These folks think they have some up and coming town but refuse to see the city for what is....Trash....

Hi there, I completely agree with you. I grew up in Huntington beach ca, and I have been stuck in ohio for over 25 years. Another thing to add, these beaches are absolutely disgusting, they even have a party island that have bands play near the lake in the summer, problem is its next to a sewer plant. I always say the beaches are the Walmart of beaches in Cleveland. Anyways, I wanted to ask you, since you have been to alot more places than I have. Where would be a great place to move and eventually retire? We are planning as soon as my son graduates in 3 years to head to the West Coast. Although moving back to my home town is WAY too expensive we'd like to keep it within a driving distance of 5 hours. We were thinking phoniex Az. But we don't think the music scene is going to active enough for us especially for a musician. We would like to be at least within 1/2 drive to a major happening city. We will be starting some travels to explore this year, but we would really appreciate any suggestions you have to help us find our future home. Thank you in advance
