Detroit is bad... but not that bad

I was just reading some of the previous comments on Detroit and I must say some of you people are just flat-out wrong. You cannot just stereotype an entire city because of some instances. One writer wrote that you may not want to raise a family in Detroit because your children may become crackheads, prostitutes, etc. Well, I am raising a family in Detroit. I have 3 children one of which just graduated from high school (Surprised?), as did all of her close friends. My 2 younger children are thriving in school (not public, charter) and in their extracurricular activities. As far as I can tell, none of my children or their friends, or my friends children are headed towards becoming crackheads, prostitutes, or any other scourge of society. I am an African-American woman, who is married and gainfully employed. Not all black people are poor, uneducated and raising hoodlum children.
