The Evils that Haunt Detroit

Like most people have said, Detroit was once a great town. And as long as the auto industry prospered, so did the city. Detroit backed the industry at all costs, most notably public transportation, and now we are all suffering. Jobs are being lost by the thousands, people are leaving the area like rats from a sinking ship. You WILL NOT find a good paying job here unless you have years of experience in a specialized area. Otherwise, prepare to flip burgers or wash cars.
Also, racism is a problem here. And its more due to white people being ignorant and afraid of black people. White flight did not occur because black people were moving into the city. Black people moved into the city because the crashing property values in the 1960s and 1970s, because of white flight, meant that Detroit was one of the few places in the city that a black family could buy a house. And, by the way, anybody with any sort of sense and intellegence would tell you that your skin color doesn't produce crime; poverty produces crime. And as long as Detroit is the poorest city in North America, its crime rate will continue to be horrible.
To make a long story short: stay away from Detroit, and by Detroit I mean southeastern Michigan. I've lived here my whole life, and as a college graduate who is one of those who can't find a real college-educated job, I can't wait to get out.
