First of all, the site asks people to leave comments about the place where they live, not places that they,ve heard about, visited, or moved away from many years ago. If you have only visited the city or if you've moved than you can not give a more accurate account of the city that someone who lives here right now at the moment. Of course the city is having economic problems, but what city is not. We're in the midst of a war that is a major setback to the economy of our entire country. The government and some dedicated people from the city are trying their best to restore the city to the great city that it once was. Yet they are criticized because they can not do it all in one week or even a year. On top of that they get no help from the citizens who complain so much. "Rome wasn't built in a day". And as far as crime goes--Please! it is a city of over 860,000 people. Before you take into account crime statistics I recomnend that you take a look at the actual numbers. If you have been in Detroit recently, you would see all the improvements and developments that are taking place in the city in attempt to attract yong professionals. However, there are a lot of people that are complaining and spreading negativity about the city. Those people are the reason why the city is slow to advance. So for them to say that they want to move is a good thing because it is their negativity that is holding us back as a city because they take no pride in the city so they will not offer an helping hand to improve it. And for vacant buildings....yeah they are there but gradually disappearing and turning into thriving businesses. If you do not believe me check it out yourself www.detroitrising.com. For one, I am glad to say that I am apart of this era of improvement and revitalization. I am confident in 5 years top that we will have worked out our flaws and and you will hear a lot about Detroit on the national level (positive things). Just remember that you heard it from me first. There are many people people bidding on vacant buildings and land in the city to build business. The crime rate could possibly decline if people from the city get rid of the "I don't care attitude".
