Review of Detroit, Michigan

The city America left behind
Star Rating - 7/22/2008
I at one point lived in a suburb of Detroit (Novi), which hides the reality of what is really going on in the area. Mansions, schools that look like malls, and happy people. Stark white to pitch black, blazing red to bright green, however you term it, the difference is seen by driving down Michigan Ave, until it looks like a bomb went off, homeless people abound, and gun shots in the air, picture Gotham city, but even dirtier. A mayor who squanders the money, as the poor are squashed deeper into the depths of Detroit's drug and prostitution rings. I have a hard time believe that this city will ever recover, its residents are too battered to care.

WOW, I must say I'm not the biggest fan of Detroit but I hate when people take things to far. I'm born and raised in Detroit and currently live just outside the city. I'm 31 and lived inside the city for 25 of those years. I have never been car jacked. Random crime is not as common as people make it out to be. If you want to find trouble it is easy to find. I'm sure that Detroit has one of the lowest homeless rates for a city of it size, and last time I checked the ride to downtown Chicago doesn't provide the best views in the world. I have been all over the united states and find that most cities that are old just look old just like detroit. I can't understand why people seem to love to take shots at Detroit. Gun shots in the air, give me a break.
