Although I do live in the burbs, I love Detroit. I love going to concerts and such at Cobo and Ford Field. I love Greektown, the ren cen, demf, the people mover, and more than that I love going to the DIA and Science Center.
As for jobs, I am graduating in December and most people in my class already have jobs for January. I for one, was offered a job back in September. I don't agree with the flipping burgers comment, you get what job you are prepared for. It is a beautiful city, if you know where you want to go. There is also a large educated community with diverse opinions and ideas that just may change everyone else's view of Detroit.
Yes, there are bad areas of Detroit, what big city doesn't have that? I saw way more aggressive bums in Chicago and D.C. I was scared of them, I am not frightened walking around in the commerce areas of Detroit.
