Detroit Home Town

Detroit's suffering quite a bit now but still has some great things to offer. The city is much more vibrant over the past 5-7years than in the 80s and 90s. Especiallly the downtown area has a number of nice restaurants, shops and activities for famlies. Canada is also nearby and is a great place to visit. Detroit also boasts wonderful museums and cultural activities including Hitsville USA to learn about Motown, the African American Museum, the list goes on and on. Additionally Detroit has a number of great children programs for example craft and other classes for children and adults involved in the arts. There is also a lot of uniqueness to Detroit that's tough to find in other cities, for example Lafayette coney island, Sanders -IceCream, Cream Puffs, & hot fudge-, Belle Isle Park, Better Made Potatoe chips, buddy's pizza, great shopping at malls and specialty boutiques. The home prices have plumeted and is still declining but if you're thinking of purchasing a home it's a great time to buy while prices are down, remember buy low sell high. The city has a lot of resiliance dispite the very negative viewpoint a number of people give it who've never even lived in the city. The burbs have some of the same great things to offer if you prefer them to the city. The area is mostly in great need of more ethnically & fiscally sound and strong leadership.
