Decent place to live in the bay area

Been a long term Fremont resident. Its the geographic center of the bay area that attracted me to this place - kind of equidistant to San Francisco as it is to San Jose. Quiet town, and great place to send your kids to school - probably some of the best public schools in California are located here.
Other than that, the city depends on its neighboring cities for shopping, entertainment and restaurants. Although some shopping areas have been added recently, most are pretty generic stuff.
