Georgetown is a great place to live!

The quality of life is great in Georgetown. Sure, it may not be the best place to live right out of college, but when you are ready to settle down and raise a family, I can't think of a more perfect place in the Austin area.
There is a real sense of community in this town. Shopping, restaurants, and a movie theater are coming which has been a weakness. Crime rates are low, tax rates are low for this area, schools are good (great in certain programs, like GT honors, and special ed). Parental involvement is very high, and housing costs are reasonable.
I call Georgetown, a mini-Austin...we have our lake (beautiful Lake Georgetown, our hill-country neighborhoods on the west side, our university..Southwestern University, our in the heart of town "San Gabriel Park"...with it's nationally acclaimed Hike and Bike trail.
We're just a bit more conservative here voting solidly Republican, and as the local bar-b-que joint "Dukes" t-shirt reads "keep Georgetown normal"... is a slogan that many ahere to. We like being close to Austin...but you won't see any thong-wearing tranvestites running for mayor here...(not that there's anything wrong with that).
