It can be scary to be in a place where people don't speak your language or share your customs. I'm sorry that they were rude to you and that they didn't pay attention to you. I live in Homestead and people can grow up in a sad environment, which can ultimately leave them angry and depressed. I try to keep a positive attitude about my town, because I truly believe that people can be kinder if they experience kindness themselves. I hope their turbulent hearts will find peace and joy.
Secondly, I'm Puertorican and I promise that just because we look or sound different doesn't mean that we're not American. If a person commits a crime, I would say that is what disqualifies them from being a true American. I'm not trying to judge you or to be mean. I love all people and I think that we all just need a little more Jesus. :) However I will say that if you try to be more positive and understanding, life isn't so bleak and even Homestead (which I agree is an unsafe and hostile town) doesn't seem so bad. I hope I haven't offended you, and I wish you all the peace and joy in the world! Honestly ??
