Aside from the Chicago area, the housing costs are reasonable in Illinois. There are many cities with areas surrounding that provide affordable living, education and lower crime rates. The state of Illinois is a wonderful place to live with Mid-Western values, people who are friendly and helpful. The climate is safe without any major problems concerning natural disaster such was earthquakes, hurricanes...we have the occasional tornado, but there are good warning systems in place.
