Best Place to Retire

I have lived in Vegas for over fifty years--almost a native. Some of the comments posted are from folks that wouldn't be happy any place they live. The world is a mirror of our state of consciousness; therefore, take that in mind for the negative comments made about Las Vegas. High unemployment is a reality here, however, the housing is extremely low for persons interested in investing or retirement. I'm talking about gorgeous homes at ridiculously low prices. This city has the finest restaurants on the Strip and off. We have the finest and most diverse shopping malls/stores. Per capita we have the most churches and spiritual houses to choose from. Education gets a hard knock because many of the children come from families where English is the second language--it takes the kids longer to acclimate. Our Review-Journal newspaper recently reported a decline in crime during this recession--probably due to a slow down in construction which does bring in a lot of transients. When the summers come the temperature soars and that's about the only time I wish I lived elsewhere. But finding air-conditioned comfort wherever you decide to venture out to is easily accomodated. We have a tons of state-of-the-art movie theaters and a plethora of activity for kids--much more so than in my childhood. Boating on Lake Mead, hiking at Mount Charleston, swimming at neighborhood schools, going to the library, etc., were what I did many years ago and still can be enjoyed today. Again, there's no place better to buy a really beautifully built home right now than in Las Vegas and Henderson. Please consider it--especially when hurricanes hit, tornadoes blow homes down, and snow keeps you house-bound...because Vegas doesn't have any of those weather problems.
