What happened to Vegas?

I moved here 15 years ago from Oregon. I absolutely loved it for the first 10 years. I had plenty of friends and we acted like rockstars. Now most of my friends have moved and my wife and I recently had twins. There is no way I will raise them here. The problem isn't just the schools, it's that there is not much of a family unit here. The kids in the schools often corrupt each other. A lot of the parents here seem to be too concerned with themselves so their kids get ignored. There are major gang problems in the schools here and the kids from good families will have to deal with this. Not what I want for my kids. There are other things about this city that get to me too. The people here can be downright ignorant! From driving on the roads to playing in the park you'll see it all. Also the weather can be extreme at times. I don't mind the heat as long as the a/c works but I hate the cold and I really hate the wind. The roads are extremely slippery when wet and a good storm can flood everything. Another issue would be the wasted money the state puts into the road construction. Once one project is done it's on to the same one. The state flower should be a cone and the motto "Warning traffic fines double in construction zones"! Then there are the not legally documented immigrants. Not bad people but can make it challenging trying to communicate with your neighbors. All in all, I probably would stay here if I had no kids. Vegas does have a lot of great things to offer, just not for kids.
