Great college community

I know Manhattan very well since I lived there for numerous years. I've also lived in several other places, and I travel for a living on a weekly basis around North America, and I can tell you Manhattan is a very special place. The biggest influence is Kansas State University (24,000 students), a comprehensive, award-winning Big 12 university that brings in countless cultural events and big-time collegiate athletics. KSU Football and basketball tops the list throughout the fall and winters. 50,000-plus people regularly attend home football games throughout the fall. Manhattan is progressive, well-educated, and culturally aware, compared to much of the rest of the midwest. Other posters on here have complained about the students (i.e. little to do = drinking), but where else isn't that also true? They are in fact, college students. Just because Aggieville (the bar/college shopping area) is a large part of the college scene doesn't mean there is little to do. Aggieville is usually alive and active throughout the weekends, especially on home football/basketball days, and during holidays.
The growth of Manhattan is unlike any other town its size, and the airport and road systems are well maintained. There is an ever increasing selection of eateries, but pay particular attention to the local places, as they are the most loved in this town.
