Memphis has its own charm. Crime can be a problem in some areas as in many cities but downtown is generally safe, particularly areas frequented by tourists. Spring here is wonderful, fall is pretty much non-existant, winters are short and mild for the most part and summer can be unbearably hot and humid. Music is a huge part of the culture here and so is food-the city smells like smoke and barbeque a good bit of the time. The greatest asset Memphis has is the Mississippi River, though it is unappreciated by some.
