Memphis

Overall I think Memphis is an OK place to live. Yes it has its faults, and some are pretty major. The city schools need help, plain and simple. There needs to be a term limit set for the mayor (who needs one person running an office for what, 19 or 20 years now?). They seem to love their corrupt politicians here. It does seem to have a high crime rate, but don't all cities.
Memphis has it's positive sides too. They have plenty of museums and parks to see, there is always something going on if you only take the time to find it, as its not always advertised. The majority of people I have met here are really nice and helpful. Memphis may be a city of 600,000+ people, but (to me anyway) it has a small town feel to it.
I grew up in the country in a town of no more then 12,000 people. Nearly all of them rednecks (I say that in the most complimentary way, because where I come from being a Redneck is not a bad thing). I love living in Memphis, because it feels like home. We drive around and its nothing to see trucks covered in mud, with big 'ol tires and the works. You drive down some streets that are closer to the outskirts of town and there are people riding 4-wheelers that are, of course, covered in mud. You can tell that this city has not lost its rural roots and hopefully never does.
