I'm originally from the NY area, but have lived in Minneapolis for nearly 10 years now. The quality of life is excellent if you can tolerate a little extra winter. Restaurants, museums, music scene, theater and plenty of outdoor activity from hiking, running, biking, kayaking, wind-surfing, rollerblading exist in greater abundance than one might imagine. Additionally, it's an affordable city and if you live Downtown or Uptown, walkable. During the winter people stay active, too, with cross-country skiing, hockey, broomball, snowshoeing and even some downhill skiing. Additionally the job market is excellent with companies such as General Mills, Target, Best Buy, Ecolab, Medtronic, 3M, Carlson Companies, and countless others, many in the healthcare industry. Plus we have one of the best airports in the world!
